newer Impala SS vs RSX

Driving in Albany I see a NON type-s RSX driving in front of me and I pay no attention. All of a sudden an Impala SS passes me like hes running from the cops. He used a turn only lane on the far left to get around me. He pulls up to the red light next to the RSX and starts revving like crazy, revving so high smoke is blowing out his exhaust. Light changes and they both get a decent launch and they're dead even till about 40ish and the acura starts to pull a little. By about 65ish they slow down due to another light. I just thought it was hilarious a small block V8 was beat by a shitty little non type-S RSX.

I have to ask myself, apparently he has NO idea what the redline is! He didn't even give me the time of day. Passed me up like I would pass up a geo metro.

I would of expected the impy to eat that acura. Those things can run high 13's and certainly low 14's.

Impala SS and small block V8? The last model Impala SS was a 3800 w/ a M90 (same thing as Grand Prix GTP). Are you sure it was a SS? I am pretty confident, heavy or not, a 3.8L supercharged can take on a base RSX. If it was a new Impala SS, those has the 5.3L V8 DODs, which I'm still sure could take on a base RSX since those are even more powerful than the 3.8L M90s.

I've pulled on Monte/Impala/GP 5.3L's plenty. Not stock, but the cars are quite heavy, so their extra power doesn't get them much. The RSX and could have just had a better driver, or maybe even wasn't stock itself. Either way, I would have done my best to blow by the both. lol.

except all of those FWD v8's are automatic. So baring wheelspin through first, (although I remember someone saying they didnt have defetable traction control), it should easily have handed the RSX its ass. One runs 14.1's stock, the other runs 14.9-15's+ stock. I dont see anyone driving an automatic being that bad of a driver that they get pulled by a car thats a second slower in the 1/4. Something just doesnt add up though.


Either way you should have shown him the Redline advantage.

My 2006 Monte SS runs better times then my 2006 Cobalt SS..


Cobalt kept running 15.3's@90mph.. at my high altitude..

The Monte which launches better finally got a high 14...

I am driving the Monte and I am also racing against my GTO...
