BMW 335 TT and Boxster S

Figures, can't get a damn race during the summer, but I've gotten a bunch the last couple days. But no matter, it's been in the 30s here, and the RL loves the cold temps.

First kill was a Boxster S. Looked like the newer model. He was ahead of me in the tunnel that many race in around here. Caught up and paced him @ 35mph. I honked and he nodded. We both punched it @ the same time. Through 2nd I put a car, car and a half on him. 3rd I inched ahead. Maybe two cars on him. Into 4th he started to creep (damn heat soak), but we let off at a respectable speed.

And the end of the tunnels, he was grinning like crazy. We chatted, and I told him my mods. He said he never thought he'd be beaten by a Satty.

Couple days later, lo and behold, found myself lined up in the turning lane w/ the new 335 TT coupe. What a nice looking car. The driver, an older guy, didn't glance @ me until I revved my engine, and he raised his eyebrows.

Well thankfully it wasn't from a dig. We turned and lined up in the tunnels and went from about 30 mph. Boost down low gave me a little jump. He didn't start creeping to my rear door until about 120ish. Then we let off. Again, another surprised wave.

Two more kills for Bella

I just got done reading a review for the new 335TT. It states the HP is 300. How the heck did they take the inline six, that makes 330 horses in the M3, attach two turbos to it and only get 300?

Detuning...that's like saying why did Nissan take the VG30DETT (?) and put two turbos on that and only put out 300hp...doesn't mean a couple small changes and the thing won't be a beast.

M3 is 3.2L, this one is 3.0L.
M3 has a 7900 RPM redline to this 7000 rpm Redline.

For starters...

If they made the 335 a beast stock, it'd eat M3 sales.

Not to say it's quick as hell stock. Dig he would've won. Looks like they're low 13s, high 12s stock. I just had the MPH trap speed to help me.

Betcha a little tweaking and they'll be killers. Not to mention sexy as hell...

C&D say 5.3 0 - 60, so maybe not a win against you...

I'm not sure of my 0-60. Probably 5.0, maybe a touch lower. FWD traction

Has anyone that's running the "standard" Spoon or Dan tune done a 0-60 time yet?

I realize they are not the exact same engines. And I thought the next M3 was going to have a similiar setup? Anywho, it just looks strange to see two power adders putting out less HP on an engine with more displacement. Regardless of everything else. I'd have made it 340 horses or so, and the next M3 could/should be 400.

Next M3 is supposed to be a 400hp V8...
