1995 Mustang GT 5.0

My friend has a 1995 Mustang GT 5.0 and everyone wants us to race but he dosent want to because he says he will kill me for sure. He has an ebay intake and he calls his exhaust a "Cherry Bomb"(what does that mean?). So I was wondering what you guys think, is there any chance i could beat him all?

IT IS A REDLINE, and yes you could possibly beat him, should be a good race.

you should beat it, my buddy had a 97 with headers, offroad H pipe, catback, and intake, and it ran high 14's with a best of a 14.6 all around 94-95mph. stock it would get 15.3's

A Cherry bomb is a Checker Shucks Kragen cheapo glass pack muffler. About $30 for their mid sized one. A TON of backpressure oddly enough given their straight through design . . .

'94-'95 5.0 Stangs, while quicker than the '96-'98 4.6's, were still only low 15 second cars stock. The mods your buddy threw on probably gave him a whopping 5 h.p. (the intake was probably worth that, but the "cherry bomb" exhaust isn't tuned specifically for any vehicle, and is just a nasty noise maker).

I'd put all my bets on your Redline if you can get a halfway decent launch. From a roll:same thing. The 5.0's don't have the top end like the 4.6's do. They're more of a "down low" motor.

Was this an auto? j/w cuz 5 speed 96-98 can run 14.6-14.9 stock. Could be a 5 speed and its the driver or altitude. If his car is auto then u can def take it..sadly. If its a 5 speed then it should be good but based on the times i hae seen u guys post u should win..unless u have a shitty launch then his torque is gonna be hard to catch up with if he launches good. Plus if his 5.0 is ragged out then u got a better chance.

No they can't.


The 95 sn95 stang still had the 5.0 but as already said was a mid 15 second player. It sounds like he is making excuses because he is scared you will beat him.
