Z28 vs Saturn Redline....

Hello everyone. Im AcE and I drive a 2000 Camaro Z28. I have an exhaust cutout and a Lid. Thats all. At the time of this race my cutout was closed. I was leaving the exhaust shop, I was getting my exhaust fixed. It had a huge leak. I see this saturn pull up next to me and floor it a couple times. My car doesnt have any Z28 emblems, so im assuming he thought it was a V6. Plus with the cutout closed, its super quiet. Its a long stretch of road so I slow down to 35mph. The redline does too. I honk three times. Right away I start pulling and by the time I let off around 120mph he like over 8 cars back. I wanna say 10 cars but its hard to judge distance that far. We pull up to the next light and the driver has a wtf look on his face. I give him a thumbs up, he rolls down his window and asks "nitrous?" I say "nah just a debagged Z28 with the cutout closed" We agreed to get from a dig. This is where my advantage sits. I rev up my car to 3500rpms. Im on Nitto drag radials, and I have plenty of street racing experience. I know how to launch my car and how to drive. He is inching forward little by little as he anticipates the green light. The light turns green and I slip the clutch, feel it grab just enough and dump it. Right out of the hole I was a good two cars ahead. By the time i hit third I saw his lights drop down, as he let off. By that time I was going 75 and he was 5+ cars back. I went home after that.

Dont know what the redline had. Definetly was louder then mine though. Next time if I race him again itll have to be with my exhaust cutout open. Very cool guy though hehe.

Eesh..that's really all you have done? I don't think I ever ran into a Z when mine was stock so I can't remember how that'd turn out. I'm fairly certain though if it was a stock RL you'dve pulled him like that.

Why you picking on cars with half the engine size of you???? Thats not right!!! Next time take out 4 spark plugs to make it even.....Or just find you a stage two RL and it should be a much more interesting race....

Yeah, but if you think about it, we may have half the cylinders, but the same amount of gas pouring in since most of us have 60lbers...obviously not the guy he raced though.

Actually, looking at your numbers and times...from a roll there are some on here that actually could take ya, one can from a dig definitely, but this isn't going to turn into a picking fest. Much less our cars are a lot lighter.

You have any picks of your car? I'm a fan of F-bodies...

Here you go

Not very good pictures heh.

What are the fastest times recorded for the RL? I was lurking around in the drag racing thread and saw that it was like 13.2 or 13.3... Can you post the links to the fastest RL?

I don't see why the guy would think you were a basic Camaro...the foglights, side panels, etc aren't even close to the base body...iirc, the damn RS body kit isn't close, but oh well.

Fastest RL ran low 11s and put down 425whp.
