Some of the RL's capabilities

The WRX post below sounds pretty acurate to me. I have a buddy with a stock 05 wrx and we play around all the time. Of course he gets me everytime from a stand still and usually in the corners due to the AWD. But from a roll it almost always seems to be very even, or if not even I find that my RL seems to usually pull on his about 1/2 car in the 30-60 range(2nd) & 80-110 range(3rd). I only have intake and exhaust.

My other proud races include:

tango-d with a few ls1's in the area, overall seem to stay very even on the highway with pulls from 70-110 but then the V8 takes it after RL's third gear runs out. At lower speeds, not much of a chance. I know 2 were stock, 1 maybe had exhaust & intake

Ran into a new style mk5 jetta gti hatch on a road trip in Albany, seems very evenly matched to the RL. He tried to do a ricer fly bye and I was going about 70, dropped a gear and held him mirror 2 mirror up until about 130 when we both backed off. So maybe from an equal start would pull on him a little, not sure

A nice Acura TL, from a stand still I was behind at first then caught up and about a nose infront when we both slowed for an upcoming light. Was much closer then I had hoped.

From experience, I try to only get myself into situations where I'm rolling, as I find the RL from a stand still has major traction problems and first gear seems kinda worthless to me.....hopefully some B-woody bars this summer will help, and a pulley will make those even matches more in my favor : )

AWD does NOT help in the corners. Don't believe all the SHAWD hype. It's all BS.

um you are wrong AWD helps alot coming out of corners, an AWD car can come out of corners much harder than a rwd or fwd car. Now going into corners it doesn't do anything.

No, an AWD car that weighs 3200 pounds can come out of a corner harder than a FWD or RWD car that weighs 3200 pounds. And yes, AWD does certainly help benefit an inexperienced driver, too. Still, not my point.

You either seen a GTI which is a golf with painted calipers and badges,or a GLI which is the same as a jetta just with visual upgrades.

sometimes when i come around a corner fast in high second gear the inside tire will spin b/c of the open diff.. awd wont do that. rwd might drift it! just an example

I am not following your point, as far as cornering is concerned AWD is far superior to RWD or FWD in exiting a corner at high speeds, when you say cornering that includes entering and and exiting a corner, in which exiting a corner AWD is def superior and helps in a car comming out of the corner faster, ask anyone that road races and they will agree with that statement. Now if you are just talking about going into/entering a corner than yes you are right there is no advantage to awd.

Sorry, yes 07Redline your right...not sure why I called it a jetta hatch I forgot thats called the mk5 golf. But yes it was the gti golf 2 dr hatch with the red calipers, honey comb grill, bigger wheels, black lower moldings, and badges.

Also, would agree with hawlyns711 and elohdaeh78 that AWD definetly brings you out of the corner quicker. Whenever I am playin with my friends 05 black wrx as mentioned above, I know he can take a highway offramp turns way past the limit of where my RL would be comfortable...meaning either oversteer would insue or the inside wheel will break traction. Especially if is at all slick or there is any lose material on the road. Also, from my experience in autocross...AWD evos and wrx's seem to almost allways come out on top around here
