Arrow '07 Stock ION RedLine v.s Civic SiR (vtech dohc)

well I am now a proud owner of the ION redline, I got mine just this week - I was driving it around all week breaking in the engine ...I love it, its an amazing machine - and I live in central Canada and you dont have many of them here so I now have a rare machine in some sense...

Last night I was being tailed by a SiR civic, and we cruised with eachother in the streets and we caught a light - so I figured it being late and the roads are dead .. lets give a it a whirl...

He pulled off pretty hard and gained about 2 lengths on me - well.. once I hit the ION into 2nd gear, and the super charger whinded up - it took only about 2 blocks for me to catch back up and fly by him... then I clearly slowed down because we were probably at about 120km (65-70mph) on a down town strip so I U turned and left him with the thumbs up after that.... It was fun - I am planning on getting a 3" pulley for the SC soon, and looking into cold air intake...

does anyone know the average price in canadian dollars it would cost me for a 3" pulley?? ( I heard the stock belt can handle it )

Plus one question to all u out there... what is the best way to launch your red line, with out... well redlining?? I tend to always be hitting the 7,000rpm right off the hop and dont really know how launch my car nicely... can some one describe to me in detail how they go about it??

good story?? I will be lookin forward to getting some support here lmao.

later guyz/galz

Honestly I don't have any suspensuion miods yet so I usually kinda ease of the line and catch them in second. Because the cars do have bad wheel hop and tend to burn the tires. Which is fun!. I would look into some torque dampeners and motor/axle mounts. THis is what I have read some of the other cars have done to help with the launch. I'm sure one of the elders will give you better detail/help.

You can't launch in these cars. Dropping the clutch gets you no where. You need to ease the clutch out around 1500 and get out of first ASAP. Somewhere between 3500 and 4500k seems to be what most shift at getting out of first.

Just curious how in the hell he got 2 lengths on you from the start? Those things have no low end torque, how did that happen? You tried dropping the clutch didn't you?? Get some mods on there and the SIR won't even be close to keeping up with you.

No idea, but there are a lot of SiR's around here (and yes they are a real model, just not for the current model year)

the SiR is the Canadian Si model IIRC...

well I don't have a RL but I can tell you from experience that anything more than half throttle in 1st gear is a waste of time.

ride out of it easy and make it up in 2nd gear...

I probably shouldn't be talking though I can't launch either, lol

No, the SiR model was just offered longer up here than in the States. My friend has a Si and there is the same model year with SiR up here

And there is no 2007 civic SiR up here, it's the same models as the states has

ya i know 2 lengths is to much of a gain on a RL for any civic, but really this is the reason why im asking everyone whats the proper procedure for a launch so that i wont redline...

thanks for the info man.
