My friend used to have a 330CI before he bought his cayman S, it had the sport package with the M3 wheels, i believe it was rated at 235hp or around that. Car was def not a slouch. Stock they would give a stock RL a very good run and it would be a drivers race. It is not a waste of gas, you might even lose if you aren't a better driver, i would say the RL has a slight advantage i have seen anywhere from a 14.8-14.4 at 95-98mph for the 330CI which is right in the ballpark of the RL a few ticks slower. Its a drivers race, to say its not is foolish, sure the RL is a few tenths faster, but a few tenths is a drivers race.

what exactly is waxed? was the guy even racing? You do realize that a stock 330CI is very slightly slower than a stock RL.

Here are the specs for you, mind you these are all for the convertable so i assume its a tad slower and heavier

BMW 330Ci coupe + Performance Package - I6 3.0L (235 hp) 6M + ABS
0-60 - 6.4
1/4 mile - 14.67@97.7mph

BMW 330Ci coupe - I6 3.0L (225 hp) 6M + ABS
0-60 - 6.10
1/4 mile - 14.71@98.70mph

BMW 330i + Performance Package - I6 3.0L (235 hp) 6M + ABS
0-60 - 6.26
1/4 mile - 14.88@96.30mph

lets be honest with ourselves here, if you waxed a 330ci in a stock RL you beat the driver, they are to close to be waxed, hell i race my friends 02 wrx all the time that runs 14.3s at 93mph and i run 13.6s at 100mph and our races are still relatively close, for you to wax a car you need something much much faster, and a stock RL is not much faster than a 330ci at all. The hardtop 330Ci is probably a couple tenths quicker also.

The new 330's are twin turbo and can haul ass. One beat PUP the other day, however he said it was a short race and he thought he was pulling on him. They run a 13.5 @ 104 though.

+1 to everyone but bigd

If you find the kitted 318's, though...those are amusing. As are the 525...

The 335's are turbo, the 330's are not.

wow you guys are dicks..i said "I" waxed one when i was stock and "I" felt it was a waste of gas....we raced from a 40,60 and also from a 80....every race was the same outcome..i won by 2-3 cars.....so fucking excuse me if I termed it as "waxing" the 330ci, I guess my terminology needs some work?
