2007 Redline vs 2007 Cobalt SS/SC

Ran a few times this evening. Cobalt is stage 2 with Injen CAI and a 2.9" pulley. Redline is just the Stage 2 Pulley only (no injectors yet so a 6500 rpm is still used) and HP Tune, it's got the comp pack (like that makes it faster). Each time the redline pulled away ever so slowly. From a roll by the top of 3rd there was a little over a car between us but seemed to be widening quicker as speed increased. Didn't think going from stage 2 tune to a custom one would make that much of a difference but I guess so. We are going to HP Tune the cobalt and see what happens. I'm trying to think of what other factors might lead to this... I would think weight is pretty well the same between the two of us.

So all you have is the 3" pulley? stock 34 lbers with a tune? When you scan what is your injector duty cycle % at redline? Must be getting VERY close to, if not over 100%?

It was pretty cool out last night, the highest I've seen IDC is 101%. I'm pretty sure the "driver mod" thing isn't playing out here since we did a few rolling starts as well.... everytime the same result.

My friend and I raced our WRXs from a roll 5 or 6 times once. We both started in the same gear at 25mph, 3 honks and off we go. My car is an 05 WRX that ran a best of a 13.6@101mph his car is a 02 WRX that ran a best of a 14.3@93mph both at the same track in the same conditions. When we raced on the road from a roll on 3 honks he kept right up with me every single time and one time he was ahead of me. To race on the street and do 3honks is very innacurate, think of how quickly a tenth of a second goes by as you watch it on a watch? Even a full second goes by very quickly and there is no way both people will be hitting the gas at the same exact time, its more likely that one person is going to be hitting the gas a second or so before or after the other person.

I agree with the innacuracy of such a test however, it is very clear in this situation that my car is the faster of the two. Since my original post we have gone to a custom tune rather than the stock stage 2 tune. The cobalt is now more or less dead even with me. I still pull ahead but by the time we hit 90 or so it's maybe a half car. It's not so obvious now which of the two cars is quicker. This guy also kicked my ass at the track, i think he beat me by 7 tenths or something like that. But even on the track I was still gaining on him the whole way I'm just not the greatest at the whole track thing yet.

Yes, I am the guy Raptors wasted with the cobalt lol. keep in mind man that you have the extra H/E and Im dumping boost in 3rd due to the shitty IAT2 temps. Not an excuse, you are faster, but you know what the next upgrade is going to be. lol. By the way, thanks for the help with the tuning.

PS. I will have the Innovation wide band after next weekend, so if you want me to put in an O2 bung in your down pipe when I do mine, we can get some better tuning done.

Hmm... sounds like a plan. I always forget about my H/E when I think of the things i've done to this car since I put it on before it even had 1000km. I dunno if i'll weld another bung in, but i'd definetly be interested in using it a bit.
