Yes, it's a Saturn. No, you can't drive it.

If he just bought it its still in breakin mode. The GT500 have to attain a certain mileage before the computer lets them see any boost. I almost bought one and noticed on my test drive I couldnt get more than 2 lbs of boost. Of course the stealership had no idea why so I did some searching online. Could be your car is just faster too. Remember, they have 500hp at the crank, about 430-440 to the wheels, but they weigh 3920lbs. EMPTY. Thats alot of weight. Good run on your part ...

Most gt500 owners see their superchargers working within 5 miles of driving it. Of course some take 50 miles, and in rare cases 500. That could possibly be the reason, which would make it more like a regular gt. And even with all that weight, it has a lot of power to get it moving. Gt500's are not exactly slouches.

I ran against a buddy's GT500 in my Bullitt from a 50 roll and held on to the top of my third gear side by side, but as soon as he shifted to third he was gone, and pulling away hard.

there is no break in mode on the gt500

how it comes off the line is how it runs... the cpu doesnt wait for anything.

I beg to differ....per Ford

Driving your Shelby GT500
ALTERNATE CALIBRATION
Your 2007 Shelby GT500 Power Train Control Module (PCM) strategy
contains a feature to limit supercharger boost pressure and engine speed
to 4000 RPM for the first five consecutive miles of vehicle operation or
50 engine start / warm up cycles. This feature is enabled prior to
shipment. If neither of these conditions have been satisfied prior to
customer delivery, full power will not be available.

To all of you calling bs please look up the 1/4 mile times on these cars. The Cobalt T/C is WAY WAY WAY faster then the S/C was and is capable of much more. The Cobalt T/C will blow out a new Model Mustang GT with ease and the GT500 is not that great. The average driver in a GT500 should make high 12's to low 13's in the 1/4 mile while the Cobalt T/C good driver mod can make high 13's if not mid 13's. Put a good tune alone on the Cobalt T/C and you're looking at a car that could very well match or beat the GT500 due to weight to power ratio.
