RSX type S and a redline

A buddy of mine has an 05 Redline and was coming home the other day when an Acura RSX type S started reving on him and trying to get him to race. My buddy is not a street racer or the street racer type so he did his best to ignore the guy, but after a couple miles or so, and the RSX type S downshifted and took off, my buddy in his redline swings out from behind the car in front of him and takes off after him. He passed the guy almost like he was sitting still, it seemed, then let off. The RSX gets even with him this time and they both take off, which was short lived because the redline left him. After this is the funniest part to me. The guy in the RSX flashes at my buddy and gets him to pull over, skeptical my buddy keeps driving, but slows down to see what the guy might say or do. Once beside my buddy, he asks him, WHAT THE HELL DO YOU HAVE IN THAT THING? LMAO, the guy was pretty cool about the whole thing, so he pulled over to talk with him at a gas station. Guy tells him his girlfriend was thinking of a Saturn SKY, but he says after seeing your car and it being that quick, he would suggest a Redline.

Thought it was a pretty cool story. Fire away LOL

The Sky Redline will THEORETICALLY have a 250+ hp turbocharged Ecotec engine; no idea what displacement or torque or anything of that sort. It'll probably be paired w/ the same 5-speed Aisin transmission in the base Sky/Solstice, which is a damn good gearbox, I must say. I drove the regular Solstice and it's got some oomph . . . with another 70 hp, it'll be a beast, on the road and the racetrack.

they say 250 or so, too early to know for sure. hopefully more, but i doubt they'll offer up something that'll make the vette and GTO look TOO bad.

That Opel is also mid-engine, which can make a difference in acceleration, but more of a difference in handling. But that car (Speedster/VX220) is a 2.0L turbo. I'm pretty sure GM is rocking out the pumped engines for Solstice/Sky using the 2.4L.

you have to realize that there is no opel in production that has anything to do with the SKY/Solstice. the styling for the SKY came from the Vauxhaul concept version off the Kappa.

engines may end up being similar, but you can't say that because of the engine, it'll do a certain 0-60. the kappa is relatively heavy coming in about 100lbs less than our cars, for a two seater convertible. put our engines in a lotus elise, and it'll be quicker than the current one...
