Has anyone here raced a probe?

Hi guys, I'm just dropping from probetalk.com to ask a couple questions.

First off, let me make sure I've got the right idea... the ION Redline and Chevy Cobalt SS are basically the same vehicle in terms of power/performance?

I was told to stop by these forums after posting results from a race with my friends Cobalt.

We went from a stoplight (with him in front the first time) since I figured he'd be walking away from me. 1st gear was pretty even, 2nd the same but he pulled slightly, 3rd he pulled a hair more and on the 3-4 shift I started to pull on him.

Today, I went first and we had similar results except he didn't pull on me in the lower gears, just stayed right on me. Yes, I know... side by side would be optimal.

My car has 171 whp and 152 wtq.

I'm not very good at racing and I assume the same of my buddy but everyone I've discussed the races with said the Cobalt should pull away easily. My best track time was a 15.4 with a horrible 60ft due too my bald tires and a 1st to 2nd shift that requires a 3 foot breaker bar to just to move the shifter

Just wondering if anyone here has run a Probe and what the result was.

I'd also like to help my friend modify his Cobalt and since he's not online right now, I'll have to search for him. I've seen a post about an 18 psi kit coming out. I'd like to make sure I don't void his warranty so please keep that in mind if you have any advice of power adders.

Thanks for any information you can provide.

Your frind must suck terribly at driving his Cobalt SS becuase with a half-ass driver behind the wheel, it should run high 14's stock.

nope never ran a probe and inb4 the cobalt driver cant drive comments.

Also I would surmise that the 18 psi kit would most certainly void your waranty.

Any advice for his shift points? I assume this is the only thing that he could be doing wrong.

I should have been more specific about the warranty. Would there be any way for Jesse (Cobalt owner) to install/remove items that would be undetectable after removal in the event something went wrong?

Arrow

His Cobalt should dyno stock somewhere around 205-210WHP, if not a little more. So you do the math with gear ratios, weight, and power. He SHOULD have no problem with you, but we all know how that goes on the street.

Lmao My mom used to do ultrasound for a living. Oh, the horror stories.

Don't feel too bad, I'm not too far off myself.

I've run a few Probe GTs both stock and modded and never had a problem walking them.
