As others have said, MS3's respond very well to intake and exhaust mods. With your mods I think you should have done a little better though. For comparison here is a few videos of me racing my buddy's STOCK speed 3. My mods were stage 2 with a 2.9, cat-back, and intake at the time.

30 roll: YouTube - Ion Redline vs. Mazdaspeed3

Dig: YouTube - Ion Redline vs. Mazdaspeed3 round 2

Sorry for the bad quality, the camera started on the 3rd honk each time. From the dig he let off when he was about a car back.

Since the races I posted, the owner of the MS3 put an intake on it so I'm sure I could race him again and see what the outcome is now....but since then I have "aquired" a vibrant header/dp combo that I couldnt turn down for $300 I just have to figure out whats wrong with my car then I can call him up for round 3!

Damn, I wish I had been on the forums the last couple of days.

MS3's like someone said before are very boost limited in 1st and second gear. I read an article soon after they came out and I believe they were being compared to a wrx... They were behind through first gear (because of awd for the subie) just behind in second, then pulled ahead a lot in third. I'd say running a modded ms3 from a dig as long as you didn't f up and they weren't crazy good would be an easy race, as long as you could stay ahead by the time they hit third.

I found the article, well, the pictures from the article.

I assume you are taking into account a modded RL vs a stock MS3? A stock MS3 shouldn't have a problem with a stock RL its a faster car in the 1/4 mile and it traps higher period. When it comes to modding you really can't say because you have to be specific to what mods you comparing. Any car can be made faster than any other car with a certain amount of modification.

I dont have fog lights either, but I still walked away with the win! haha

Also, I beat a stock MS3 from a dig to about 100 when I was stock once...I got so excited until a friend of mine told me that he knew the owner and that it was his first manual car....and that he had only had it about a week
