Mustang Convertible

I thought about posting this under the original "Mustang GT" thread but since the Ford faithful has tainted that thread with more than 15+ pages of (NO WAY YOU BEAT A MUSTANG, THE DRIVER WASN'T RACING ETC ETC). I was on my way home later in the evening from a long day at work and so I'm driving a little more "spirited" than normal. I was cruising about 75 or so, and came up on this yellow Mustang Convertible, possibly a 99-02 with the top down and 2 passengers. I'm not sure exactly what it is about the Mustang owners I run across but they must think they're driving around in Ferraris or something. As I'm casually passing him, he decides to pull in behind me (which is no big deal, but he does it as if he's doing an emergency lane change as if I offended him by passing him) I don't think much of it, and keep on my way. Since I'm in a bit of a rush, I am somewhat darting in and out of traffic. Looking back in my rear-view mirror I see him doing all sorts of "emergency lane change manuvers" as if he's trying to catch up to me to "put me in my place". I get into an opening where there are no cars ahead of me (Oh I had to edge in front of a motorcycle rider that I don't think appreciated me darting ahead of him because I looked back and saw both the Mustang and the Motorcycle--older honda--- behind me). I dropped it into 4th gear and gunned it. Looking back I saw both the cycle and the mustang start to give chase. After about 100 or so I looked back and saw both appear to cut it off. I egged em on a couple of times by tapping on my brake, but neither wanted to engage me anymore. I'm not sure what it is about certain drivers that they drive their set speed, and can't seem to have ANYONE pass them. I'm sure this Mustang driver wasn't expecting this outcome. At least he had someone else in his car so his attempts at showing up a "Saturn" will be remembered by his friend. Mustang fans say what you want, (Its a convertible its heavier etc etc) I lose more respect for the Mustang every day.

U never said if it was a v6 or GT or what? I wouldnt really call that a race either. If it was a v6 then no way it have a chance with you. I dont call BS on every mustang kill..but judging by the stock times of the common redlines out there..my car is a little faster and a little slower then some. And my car is no way FAST but if i was to race a 5 speed 99+ GT i am sure id lose. Like it has been said anything can happen on the street..but i think alot of the redline guys have egos and gotta have something to be proud of with their 4 banger versus an 8. I am no way knocking your car, i Love the little redlines but stock for my car..which i know isnt stock but who cares, u run what u bring...they are not much faster. I can see a quarter car, half car length but all these threads with beating 99+ GT or mach ones with 5 car lenghts is absurd.

A stock Mustang GT on the freeway loses it's rear wheel advantage. A loaded convertible..come one, I would expect the RL to win by a nice margin.

i thought this got settled guys? From a dig, mustang has the advantage. From a roll, Its pretty much even, with a slight advantage to the R/L. I've seen this on every race i've done versus a mustang (close-ish to stock), they kill me off the line, and then i start to pull on them at the top of second and on. i dont pull much, but I do pull. Its a drivers race quite a bit.

NOW STOP TROLLING, your honestly making mustangs look bad by doing so, just like when I pull up to a light, and have a guy in an old musclecar laugh at my car, and then I spank him, it just makes you look like an idiot with something to prove. Yes, we ARE proud that we can beat a V-8, Stock for stock we are EXTREMLEY close to beating them overall, that is to me something to be proud of.

If someone beats a car, take it at face value, life has flukes, and interesting happenings, maybe someone missed a shift, maybe its a granny, maybe its a riced mustang that doesnt actually HAVE a v-8 ... WHO GIVES A SHIT, the kill is real, if you are honestly feeling that threatened by it dont stink up our forum with your whining that the kill isnt "real" or that "your mustang" would do better

Again i'll give you guys a few things
A. Overall, in the end, your car can make more horsepower, and probably can get bigger gains by small mods (due to more displacement)
B. Generally, on an average, your cars are faster from a dig, but there will be times you guys lose, averages are not absolute. there are freak cars, and freak drivers. and morons too.
C. V-8's do sound better.
D. I'm a former mustang owner, and you guys coming on here and trolling like this almost makes me ashamed enough to say I will never buy a mustang ever again.

Go beat up on some honda owners if you feel the need to inflate your ego's some more.

Troll?? Ummm buddy i been here longer then you praising the redline. Just was saying SOME threads are total BS where redline owners think mustangs are racing and are not. All i was saying..i like the redline..just happen to like mustangs more. Just some KILLS arent really kills and they think if the mustang doesnt give chase or something and they take off, they won. I am not saying u are this guy did this, but thats ricer mentality. Ill admit if i lose..dont worry. I have lots to lots at the track. Not a redline tho, only because i havent seen one yet at the track.

I'd still take a Mustang GT over 75% of the cars out there.

I noticed majority of all the so called mustang kills these RL's post are V6's GT's but never a cobra. A 98 GT would give them a good run because they were the slowest GT's ever made. I know there are a few Mach1 threads and what not but IMO a Mach would strate up kill a RL but if the RL swapped out to a turbo then Mach would loose depending on what he had done in the tune. RL's are ok for what they are but you can't beat the rumble of a V8. Yes some of the threads on here are bs like the WRX and WRX STI kills but some of the threads I believe like the RL vs Skittle or RL vs Sixer or what ever else is around their HP range but OA I guess their ok.
