Arrow VERY Well Kept 83 GT

On friday night, a friend of mine and I met up with a couple other local RL's at a weekly car show. A friend of mine also tagged along with us, he drives the 83 GT (owned by his father and babied as much as possible for a once DD, engine rebuilt at 193,000 miles, and everything else is stock from 83). Well, he specifically brought it in case anyone of us wanted to run, because he has taken me before, from a dig. His daily is now a Focus, so he needed the V8 to be somewhat impressive. Well, heading back from the show to Steak and Shake, we take a road that runs parallel to the highway (SR84 running next to I-595 for those local). We're coming off a red light and neither of us are doing anything, but I leave it in second longer than usual because I wanted to hear (and help him hear) the supercharger. I love the sound from the K&N, and so does he. So, at about 4K in second, I hit it, and does right away also. I didnt plan on going any further than 2nd, but since he hit it, I stayed on it. I shifted into third, and grabbed about a fender-lenght. Once into fourth, right as he shifter into fourth, I actually started to pull, and was a little over 3/4 of a car in front when we shut down at 100. So from 40-100, I overall pulled, and was throughouly surprised. We had run before but his low end torque murdered my first gear, and I was playing catch up from then on. Tonight though, from a roll, i was very impressed with what the car was capable of. He was very surprised as well .

Sorry bout the long post, but I like being descriptive.

Good run but a stock 83 GT is like 175 horses from the factory so not a beast. It could easily be upgraded but u said it was stock. I love the 4 eyed foxes!!

Yeah, as far as I know it's still stock form, they're trying to keep it as OEM as possible, and have managed to do so for 22 years. The HP was not ever what had me, it was the torque he could use in the low gears. Once rolling though, that was eliminated. I'm still happy, and I get twice the MPG. lol, he didn't like it too much.
