Annihilated a mid-90's rusted out 4-banger Probe!

I was driving around in Brighton tonight with Sarah, and this douchebag got in the lane next to me at the light . . . he thought he was tough - wife beater, listening to some Marilyn Manson or some shit, with a hole in his muffler. I was just patiently minding my business, talking to Sarah in my car, when I hear him revv. Of course, if I drove a piece of shit periwinkle mid-90's Ford and I saw a quiet little Ion with a hot chick in the passenger seat, I'd revv too; wouldn't we all?

So I looked over at him; he looked over at me. Sarah waved. The light went green, I put my right foot down & lifted my left up, and "Adios!". Even with quite a bit of wheelspin (the tires broke loose from about 2500 rpm until I shifted), I put a good 2 car lengths on him before shutting it down at 45

So I creamed the brakes, let him do his ricer flyby, and get caught at the next light, where I proceeded to slide up next to him again. Of course he wants a rematch; he revvs again, determined not to let some Saturn with a teenage kid and a cute blond get the best of him! All the while I'm shaking my head, thinking, "I'm going to get arrested, I swear; street racing in Brighton is about tantamount to one of the seven deadly sins!" But the light for those getting off the freeway goes yellow, and he revvs it one more time, just to let me know he's serious.

Sarah is, all the while, goading me on - "Do it, it'll be funny. You're not going to get in trouble." I explain to her that it's not even fair, and he doesn't really understand what he's toying with - I spun my tires halfway through first gear the last time, and didn't pull until after I shifted into 2nd gear. She then tells me that's exactly why I have to put him in his place.

One more revv from the Probe, and the light goes green. I idle patiently off the line, and he punches it, failing to upset his suspension enough to even CONSIDER protesting with wheelspin. So I let myself get a good roll going, then POW foot down once again. This time it looked like he was standing still and I took it up to the end of 2nd gear (about 1.5x the speed limit!) and back off, then turn around in a gas station parking lot to spare him the embrassment of seeing me again. Good times . . .

Why do people in Probes always do that to themselves,it's like they JUST have to try. There's a flame on the stove, I think I'll stick my hand in to see if it's hot. Nice kill.

PROBES ARE A PAIN IN MY ASS!!! (pun intented...)

EVERYTIME I see one, they think they are hot shit and rev and fly by and do whatever to make themselves look cool. I have not had the chance to put one to shame yet b/c they always "get me" in rush hour traffic or where there is no way I can line up with them. Drives me nuts b/c most of them around me don't have anything but a fart can and HUGE wing...wait, I forgot, that should give them AT LEAST 150 more HP...

Do you have a big spoiler? I do and I think that draws more attention to the car then if I had a decklid...I'm actually thinking of getting a smaller spoiler.

Probes are nothing to worry about.

Only one that I was worried about was a friend of mine who had one with a KLZE and a custom Eaton M63 Supercharger set up. Only problem is that his alternator relocation shaft was ticking.

The probes came in many shapes and sizes, the early probes came with 3 engines, a turbo 4 banger, a regular 4 banger and a 3.0 6 cylinder. The turbo 4 bangers could run mid 15s stock, while the 6 cylinder was more like a 16.0 car. The 2nd generation introduced a smaller but much better 2.5 6cylinder and another crapper 4 banger. The 2.5 6cylinder was nothing special putting out 167 or something like that hp, but the car was zippy handled really well. I think the 2.5 was capable of high 15s in the 1/4. The turbo 4cylinder ones could be in the 14s with no problem with minor mods, they could put up a fight, but they were rare and most are dead by this point in their existance. My ex gf had a 1st generation 3.0 6cylinder 5speed probe my best friend had the 2nd generation 2.5 6cylinder 5 speed probe. I knew a guy that had a turbo 4 cylinder 1st generation probe. Alot of knowledge when it comes to probes, they are nothing special, but they aren't horribly slow either.

I KNOW! it sucks don't it? I get tired of instigating so i havn't gotten in a race for a while. The only time someone tried to race me was after going to the track and watching. It was an evo that had just ran that night like low 13's and I definetly didn't win...
