Hemi

I raced a 2005 dodge hemi on the freeway last night. It was from a 60 mph roll.I told my friend I would smoke em. We didn't do the 3 honk go stuff i just punched it and as soon as I did well a second later he did. I pulled about a car lenght before he really got moving. I cut out at about 90 with a good 2 car lead but I coudlnt gain on him very much. He claims he kept up but I don't think he did. His thing is oh this is a truck so I should have kicked his #ss on the freeway. Well he does have 340 horses. Do you think I could take him from a dig? I followed him home from work and he decided to jump off the freeway where we usually don't get off when it was to late for me to follow. I think he got scared to race again cause he is always bragging about how fast this truck is and didnt want to lose to me again. He liked picking on me when i had my 99 gmc sonoma but now it's a different story. I think he would take me 0-60 cause i am all stock right now.

Thats nothing the new jeep Cherokee is coming with the 6.1 hemi pushing I think around 400 hp and 0-60 is supposed to be under 5 seconds! Jeep is pretty bad, I mean there 4.7 liter can pretty much keep up with the ram hemi. My friend raced one in his hemi last night but they are like 1000 pounds lighter. They were even up to like 60 when the hemi started pulling on him!

I didnt know they were going to put the 6.1 in the jeeps. Thats the Srt-8 motor for the 300/charger/magnum styles. That 6.1 is 450hp. I messed with a hemi durango a few weeks ago and brother that suv is Fast. I could pace it and slowly outrun it but it wasnt a pleasnt victory.

The 6.1L in the jeep is the grand cherokee srt8. It isn't as potent as the same engine in the dodge srt line. Probably the only difference is the intake, cams, or pistons, something small that can be switched. Maybe even the manifolds. Since the jeep is a unibody (no strait frame underneath) It is more compact.

There are also 2 versions of the 4.7L. The regular 4.7L is rated at 230/295, and the 4.7L HO is rated at 250/3xx. The only difference between the two being cams, intake, and pistons. The grand cherokee's are pretty fast for an offroad-capable machine.

I thought about a 4.7 jeep. Then I drove the Common Row Diesel liberty and man that thing has some balls. No speed but 300ft lbs of torque. Ahh the ideas. Im still not sold on selling my car or not but there are too many options. A srt8 liberty would be cool with the hemi 6.1

My girl can pretty well keep up with me when she is driving our hemi. On the freeway she will be right on my ass the whole way.

That would be ALOT of engine for a little liberty! They would have to widen the whole truck just to get it into the engine bay.

Your choices are the 3.7L v6, or the deisel for the liberty. Neither one of those engines are slouches. Give it a few years, and they will have some nice upgrades for the 3.7L, Its the same engine that is in the dakotas. And deisels are just plain easy to get power out of. When my wife was looking for a new car I had dreams of a Banks-Liberty. That would be a sight for sure.
