Ford explorer suprised me

I see this big ol suv flying through traffic behind me. He pulls next to me as im taking off from a stop and then he floors it again after traffic starts moving. I'm like I have to mash on him!I finally catch him after watching him take off from the light so I know he is going to floor it from this light. The light turns and i slip the clutch and just smoke my tires, while pulling him from the line tires smoking he isn't falling back as quick as i thought he would. I finally get traction and start pulling father on him. About 40 i'm a few car lenths. They got pretty good torque rated about 239 horsepower ,282 pounds-feet of torque. From a light and the lane ends and you mess up in your start your going to be behind that little big ol suv!

I'm betting you'd take that "exploder" on the curves though, at least that's what all the lawsuits out there say........

My stepfather used to work for the law firm defending Ford in the Bronco II and Explorer rollover cases. they're fucked.

I raced a V8 Grand Cherokee jeep a number of years ago, it had loud duals and big rims on it, it was next to me at a light, light turned green and he gunned it, i didn't launch and waited a second before i gave chase, i gave up in 2nd gear realizing i would be doing over 100mph before i caught him. This was in my 13 second supra that trapt at 103mph.

Same kind of thing happened to me the other day, but it was with a 4runner limited. She came out of no where going 60 in a 35 and as soon as she passed me she slowed down to the speed limit for a second an took off. We both stopped at a light. We both floored it. She caught up to me at the next light laughing and waiving. First person that actually tries to race me is in a 4runner.

theres a kid i work with whose dad has a supercharged denali putting 500+ hp to the wheels. but not as cool as his 55 chevy belair with full open hooker headers and straight pipe exhaust

Aren't there V6 and v8 models of explorers? (not to mention the saleen models)...Doesn't the v8 have more than 239?

4.0-liter V6 with overhead cams and aluminum heads rated at 210 horsepower
254 pounds-feet of torque 4.6-liter V8 239 horsepower 282 pounds-feet of torque are the stats not a race car but lots of torque

This reminds me of the fun I had with a Jetta a couple of days ago. Completely took me by surprise at least until 75.
