Me vs. local morons

Before I begin, I want to start with the idea that these two drivers should do the world a favor and turn in their keys, or commit hari kari. Their choice...just not at the same time.

Okay, heading back from my girlfriend's place, which lets me take the nice four-lane around here, where ricers prowl.

First idiot, less than 20 with the mentality of a 5 year old, is driving a late-body Pontiac Sunfire.

So I pass him in the LEFT lane, mind you (like I'm supposed to do) at no more than 5 mph over the limit. He tromps it and pretends to race me. I let it go. Turns out I'm still in the left lane at the next light, and he scoots behind me, in my lane.

The light turns green, AND HE FLOORS IT BEHIND ME. If I hadn't been moving, he would've hit me. Or he almost did anyway (auto in the Sunfire vs. my stick).

Okay...that fuckin pisses me off. I scoot up ahead and take it to about 35 or so, leaving it in second gear, getting in the right lane. He comes flying up on my left AND FLICKS ME OFF.

I floor it and, hey, whatta ya know...say hi to the saturn, and bye to the saturn, fuck face. I shut down pretty quickly...and the kid proceeds to ricer-fly me at almost 80 (I'd slowed back down to 50 or so, limit is 40), while taking a curve in the road. He moves over the center lane, putting a few inches of his car in oncoming traffic. I hadn't even egged the kid on! Man, I'd like to slap him.

What it is about a really slow and ugly car that makes kids turn into idiots?

Speaking of which, next up is a Hyundai Elantra, a new one. Why the fuck can't anyone NORMAL try to race me?

Stopped to get gas (yay), and getting back onto the same four-lane road after the Shitfire incident. This is at an intersection, and I'm making the right with the Elantra in front of me. Light's green, I putter up to like 3k in first gear, lazy shift into second. Elantra takes right lane, I scoot into the left.

As I pass him and shift into third, HE gets it into his head to race me. I hear his gerbil wind up (I can make fun, I used to drive one) and he comes up beside me. Elantra's aren't SLOW compared to other compacts, but to my saturn? Please.

Okay, you asked for it. Downshift to 2nd, gone. Shut down at 60, shift into thrid.

Ricer flyby in the left lane. I'm slowing, he's not (he's proally at 60, 65). Light changes to red ahead. The car ahead of him stops. Without signaling, he cuts off the guy in front of me, and misses the stopped car by INCHES while panic stopping.

Funny thing is, I saw a cop about .5 mile later. Had he been a little earlier...priceless.

I hadn't started either race, nor would I have. What the fuck is wrong with these people? No wonder my premiums are so high.

And to make matters worse, earlier in the day, I found myself idling three or four cars back from the front of a pack while waiting for a light to change. A new WRX pulls beside me. Guy lowers his volume and tells me he's heard about the RLs. Couple Q's back and forth. He said it was a shame we were back, he'd like to race.

Then he added...but that proally wouldn't be a good idea. Too many people around. Nice guy.

More power under the hood = more brains? Seems like it today.

I do challenge some cars; mostly ricers, for the fun of it. I did race a mustang gt to 70 mph just for the fun of it. I did see a black redline do a ricer-fly-by on me one time after I normally hit 30 mph. He went 60 in a 30 zone through a curve. I then saw why the redline needs lsd, wheel spin during light acceleration from a stop.
