Don't call out a RL!!!

Well, I was called out by a friend of mine in a VR6 GTI. He has rode in my car before and told me he didn't think it was as fast as his... I laughed. Needless to say we went at it tonight. First from a light... KILLED!!!! him. Can't even count the number of cars. Second time from a roll, approx 35mph, he didn't stand a chance, I pulled instantly and didn't even redline 2nd for his sake. Afterwards he said "you absolutely killed me at that light, and I didn't stand a chance from a roll either, deff impressed me. Good run" In other words... respect the ________

Deff not fast at all. He talked it up though, saw my little brother a couple days ago and was talking out his ass about how his car would pretty much handle mine. O the look on his face afterwards. I pulled incredibly hard too, i'm pretty sure if he had some mods, exhaust, intake and such, the RL would still pull on it. He was embarassed that he called me out.

Also, I've raced a Jetta GLI 1.8T and it was another easy walk, but I think the 1.8T and a VR6 would be a decent race. Not sure though... anyone else know??

I was thinking of getting one the Jetta GLI's. I think they are absolutely a better build quality, or maybe I should say a more "luxurious" feel, but I agree they lack in power. They had me sold on design appeal.

I agree, the build quality is better, but the performance and price of the car were just too much. Deff not anything major that would make me spend another 5-6K on it. But I must say, the interior is setup real nice and the exterior looks sweet, big rims, small spoiler and it sounds mean with a BOV. But performance isn't quite there. But it can be quite easily with a chip, so I wouldn't sleep on all GLIs. VWs are always a fun race, just more fun when they don't really realize what your driving.

Thumbs up

well i raced a few 1.8t in my area and creamed them all except one which i thought i was going to lose!
we went from a 30 first (i tried 40 but he herd my car revving high so he tried to slow me down ) he instantly pulled a car as soon as i hit 6k in 2nd i stated to pull back up then when i was in high 3rd just about to pass this guy badly he lets off im like wtf!
then we u-turn and go back and this time from a light (i launch like an evo whne it comes to revving i rev it up to around 4-6 k and kep pumping the gas) well as soon as it was green i feathered the clutch and boom! i was instantly 2 cas on this guy then he just stopped lol so i was proud of my launch!

he said he had that Chip, intake, full exhaust, and downpipe plus im not sure if they all come with real Hid's but his were real nice overall good kill

thay are heavy that is why we usually win

Are you talking about a jetta 1.8t of the GTI 1.8t?? Cause I know another guy with a chipped 1.8t that wouldn't mind going out and seeing what the RL has, but I'm not sure if I'd be able to take him. Either way... if I can't now, in a few months i'll be able to, lol. (com'on GM, com'on GM!!!)

A chipped 1.8T with a downpipe/CAI is good for high 13s at 101 or so mph. The chipped 1.8Ts can run upwards of 23psi on the stock turbo on the 100 octane map. A stock 1.8T runs low 15s at 94 or so mph.
