He's right though, Motor Trend says 13.6 1/4 mile time. It does go on to say that after a few runs though, the supercharger gets REAL warm and boost starts to drop quickly. So if he was drivng that truck like a ricer before you saw him, might be able to lose him. Dosen't say much about the truck's 100 mph performance stats though.

Hey i am a ford guy but if the facts pointed to the RL being faster then i would admit it. I admit when cars are faster...but i still like fords!! lol. So just stating the facts..i am in no way dissing the RL cuz i want one.

srry the runs all were from rolls. I asked them if it could go down like that and the agreed. I wasnt the best driver at that time. They were all friends like a lightning club. some had nothing done some had alot done, so i went up the chain slower then got faster some by me winning by inches the last one was godzilla chip intake traction bars x-pipe? the list went on and it was pretty amazing that i could read his svt badge quite well.

Down visiting my brother on Amelia Island in Fernandina Beach, Fla, a friend of his in a 98 Dodge Neon R/T came over one night to check out my car. Well i had already been drinking very heavily earlier so i let him drive and he was pretty impressed. Then we lined up side by side on a deserted road, at night, me having two passangers in my car, him none, and me like i said drunk off my ass. Well, he smoked me twice and my brother once. So i have lots of excuses but that little car could really move. No harm done.

Personally, I find that I drive much faster when drunk from beer than when drunk off anything hard. I will have to experience with light vs. regular beer to see if this will also help. Due to the scientific nature of this expirment, it will take some time and several trials to get a mean average. This should also give me enough time to raise bail money. I'll keep y'all posted.

I have encountered an SRT-4, brand new on the highway and starting at about 50, we both punched it and I lost ground but not more than a car length when we both cooled it around 115 mph. It was dead of night.

I totally smoked some hotshot redneck in a brand new Ford F-150 SVT Lightning. We were on the same highway aforementioned and he noticed me, pulled over to the right to let me by, then as i approached him he flipped me the bird (assuming he was gonna pull away from me) and stomped on the gas. The bird gave me the split second to know it was "on", so i was able to stomp the gas at the same time and blew him away. We started at about 60 and he fell behind pretty easily...again this was dead of night and no one around. After a few miles he tucked behind an 18 wheeler to hide his shame.

I live on a very curvy road and one night coming home on dry pavement i came up on a 626 a few years old and he felt pretty good about himself so he started taking the curves and i took them right on his ass even getting over into the oncoming lane to make sure he didnt brake check me. No traffic around of course. Well when we came upon a really sharp corner he threw it in there very hard, with me still on his back bumper, and he spun out of control as i drove past him and honked my horn in delight!!

I guess now is where i take all the flak for not only street racing but drinking and driving too right??? Well its a small island and my family lives in a remote area and they were desolate side streets so keep the grandma comments to yourselves!!
So you can "smoke" a lightning, but you lose to a first gen r/t neon? you sure it wasnt a run of the mill f-150? lol

I got two things from this tread. You BS way too much, and your a moron for not only driving but racing drunk.

I definitely agree about the drunk part. driving is bad enough but racing drunk? The saturn RL is cool and no doubt a quick car...but as i read these posts its starting to sound like its turn alot in here to ricers. How they beat this and that car which is KNOWN to be faster then the RL. I guess if u did get a bad driver in a manual car that should be faster can make a difference if he wins or not...but it seems like there is alot of BS. Sorry just my opinion...i know i know i drive a 14.8 second automatic stang and ill prolly get flamed for being slow but i admit when i am slower. One day tho..ill be faster. Now my gears just gotta sit there and look at me for a while since i bought this Sl2..sigh oh well.

I think everyone knows to take people's kill comments with a grain of salt. If you got someone in a known faster car, even better. Since the essence of the 'kill' is both a fast car, and a better driver, there are alot of cars you can whup on. The second day I got my car a girl in a Toyota Echo lined up next to me at the stoplight right before the interstate on-ramp. She was in the left, I was in the right, the on-ramp was to the right. The light turned green, I lit up first in a smoke show, was was reved up jamming into second, spun in second till I let off the gas. Needless to say, she was smiling her way past my simple ass the whole way, this in no way suggests that a Toyta Echo is fast! You just never know who is driving the other car, how good/bad they are, and how scared/confident of their car they are.

Well i just revisted this thread after a week and thought i would leave my comments. Yeah just because a car or truck is supposed to do something, doesnt mean it will in the hands of general population. Everyone likes to brag about racing and beating this car and that car, personally there is no better feeling to me than beating a honda or mustang whether it be on a straight line or through some country roads. I live in an area where no kidding at least 40% of the teenage/early 20 crowd drives mustangs. I really like mustangs but its fun to knock them off their redneck high horse, and most of that due to the fact they dont know how to drive their car. But basically anyone can be beaten on the right day. So im not sitting here bragging out how great my car is...it handles incredibly and I have yet to see anyone else with a RedLine in Atlanta in the 8 months I have driven this car and love that!! But it can be beaten. I am not bsing on any of the kills i have written about. Putting a car on the street vs what it can do on a dyno are two completely different things, especially since very few of us are professional drivers. For rlinbatonrouge, I was drinking Redbull and Vodkas that night if that has any input into your experimentations. Next time I am kicking my two passangers out before dragging him again.

Being that i own a lightning i will admit that one of the weakest part of my truck is that i don't do to well in a roll situation. Get me below 40mph on dry ground and its on. The non-pullied lightning does'nt have much top end this is me comparing my truck to my friends low 13sec mustang. Once you get closer to the higher speeds this thing hits a brick wall in terms of wind restriction. But my friend tommy's 99L which has your basic L bolts which includes lower pulley, cold air, 4:10 gear, tune, traction bars, and non-drag nittos runs high 12's and makes me look like a fool. He's got less than a grand in performance parts in his truck and embarases bolt Ls1's and recently a decently modded srt-4 makes me believe that the guy who beat a modded L wasn't that modded. I don't want to ruffle yours feathers but im just stating what iv'e seen. Theirs not many parts for the RL and i know that srt4 was putting down at least 260fwhp, tommy puts down at a minimum of 400/500.

Maybe we have a different thought process but 260whp sucks for a decently modded srt. With $3 in mods on mine a put out 250whp 288tq. anyway off topic. Lightnings deserve way more respect than most people give them. And its kinda hard to screw up racing an automatic. My point is that the lightning is a very fast and very consistant truck. It should not have lost to a RL or many other cars for that matter, but i guess it is possible.

I can see this site turning, like others, into no one will believe you till you have video/timeslips.

I'd like to see a time slip or dyno chart to believe that...
