What my little Skittle Can do -- and why I am not doing it again

I will post my only kill here , and lets just say I regret racing the race.. ( you will see why at the end)

I went against a 911 carrera S( 04 most likely) with an upgraded exhaust and intake ( dunno of others mods since he shouted it) , the guy got into my nerves and I finally raced him ( I am guessing he likes picking on cheap cars because it makes him feel good to race them i guess)

My car an SRT-4 with your boltons and an upgraded Turbo pushing 21lb ( equated to 407/402 tq on pump gas with alchohol injection off)

first run was from 60mph to 140..

He initially got the jump around 2 cars( I was WTF) and I started realling him and passed him when I shifted to 4th.. I shut down at 140 since we where hitting a curve.. by the time we where done I had around 2-3 cars on him.

second and last run..

70-160

This time , I turned on my alcohol injection, and quickly switched maps and bumped up the boost to 23lb ( this is around 420-430) ( knowing that the carrera has more top end than me)

this time I brake boosted it and I got the jump and easily pushed around 5-6 cars on him and I shut down at 160 since that is close to my limitation on top speed due to the redline..

Anyhow the guy did a ricer flyby and lets just say that he won't pick on our sport compacts again ( this includes you guys with the redlines :P )

Now the point of the whole story on why I regret it..

I know Street racing is the forbidden fruit and it is exciting .. BUT Not for me!

I got pulled over a year prior for street racing ( when I wasn't , I was driving my friends car) I didn't go to jail , but I was embarrased in front of people , the whole experience of going through a criminal misdemeanor charge ( here in florida it is) , going through court AND paying my lawyer almost 2k to get out of it left me lets just say scarred of ever getting pulled over again.

After the race , I started shaking like no tomorrow I couldn't even step on the gas since I was shaking so much , I pulled over and rested for a while , to the point where I could finally drive again.. Drove home.. went to bed AND for the life of me I couldn't sleep... I was still shaking... few hours past went to sleep and had nightmares of my friends death woke up.. stayed awake for long periods of time and well went through 2 days of this stuff.

All of us have diffrent reactions to events, But I am guessing the cops and the death of my friend ( speeding) was pounded into my head that I am literaly scared to death to street race lol..

anyhow I know kinda who cares post.. but that was my experience and I just wanted to share it.

Getting to those speeds on public roads is stupid and I'll agree with you to that point. A tiny part of me wants to go "damned good kill" and it was..but the speeds are the only thing I can't agree with on public roads..waaaayyyy too many unforseen things out there. Atleast you lived to tell your tale though..'tis more than some people do..

yeah I know was stupid ,
we did it on a highway that there is no traffic on and no entrances... so we didn't have traffic.. so even if it was an excuse it was still idiotic.

and in my own head I knew that..

So I call myself and idiot for doing it in the first place.....

And its sad that some of us forget the consequences of our own actions , and I never realized that if I crashed that I would've ended up in a grave.. and let my family and friends in a complete emotional situation.

anyhow I wanted to come out clean and thats why posted

edit this happend 6 months ago

First your reaction is adrenaline mixed with fear. One or the other will keep you alive. At the same time you get panic. While 160 mhp is quick I take my bike well over that as much as possible but thats me. Nice kill for one.

When did I miss the memo of a Admin Opening?

Good kil but I would have to agrre with Tib! Those speeds on public roads are just way too crazy! myabe now that Im older ive come to my senses! I mean I will still occasional race people from stopligh to stoplight but I never reach must faster than 60mph. I will leave my high speed drivng to the drag strip and tracks from now on! Losing a friend always sucks I lost two friend in HS that were racing so I know how these things can affect people!

First off good kill. at those speeds yeah the adrenaline rush is crazy, but afterward you get to thinking "what the hell did I just do"? I've had races up to 110, and not 5 minutes after I start shaking. 160 is just plain nuts, in a controlled environment yes, public streets/highways no. We don't like reading obits.

I'm always running my car up to 140+. I like to drive fast is the only reason.
