True dat - went to school at ISU... got a job after college on the east coast (DC metro) and am now moving back. To madison, WI. Midwest is where it's at - the good, relaxing, fun life, that is.

Hell yeah! ISU!!! I don't go to school there, but I am a huge fan of the cyclones. Anyway, that's cool you're moving back to the midwest. I've thought about moving out to the east coast when I get done with school, but I haven't yet decided.

Make sure you get a job that can cover the cost of living man... and prepared to be driven insane by the traffic as well as all the people who have no clue where their tires are at on their car. My wife's been in 2 accidents in 6 months - this has the "most dangerous place to drive" award according to AAA, which ranked Cedar Rapids, IA as the safest, believe it or not. This is ranked based on how many accidents per person over 5 years. Here it was 2.2 and in IA it was like .7

I'm moving back strictly for the pace of life - it's a freakin rat race out here and I'm already sick of it (15 months)

It's really that bad out there? I knew it wasn't that great, but that's horrible. The only real reason for me wanting to go out there is for the simple fact that I am a criminal justice major and there would always be jobs and a good chance for advancement. I still have sometime to make up my mind, but it still makes me think.

You have to remember - everybody else is thinking the same thing. I'm moving to Wisconsin to take a job at a very SMALL place, where essentially there will be an even better chance for advancement since there's nobody to wait in line behind. Just think about the people that are ahead of you, they'll get theirs before you get yours. The only way to make it anywhere any more is to "leap frog" your way up. Get a year in, get a new job as the next step up - otherwise you can stay at one place and it'll take you 5+ years to get any sort of a "promotion". Check in the area first, if you can get in on the 'ground floor' of something you'll be much better rewarded.
