I'm doing it again guys..

A couple of you will remember awhile back before winter I was hard at work on a frame for a Indy car replica..well..that frame was bought from me while it was at the shop getting a body built for it. Well..I'm designing yet another one and I'm hopefully going to start on it as soon as I finish the design process.. I'm working on obtaining another engine and another turbocharge setup for it.. The big kicker NOW is that I'm also designing a new drivetrain and instead of being just RWD it's going to be AWD.. I just have to make sure the components that I use can handle the stress.

I do need to get with you though 'cause I'm having trouble developing the front part of the drivetrain..the rear section was super easy to figure out, but the front is giving me some headaches..

I built highmilage cars in high school, I am sure we can design something that will work well. Is this in steel or aluminium??

It kindof depends on your powerplant, I am assuming you'll want light weight parts as you wont be pulling much weight or off roading, well maybe you will off road it but at least it wont be like mudding I hope. any way, if you've got the stock Ive got the mill and lathe, we can literally make anything we need.

This vehicle'll be roadcourse only Scott..ground clearance of only 1.5-2"

To be more specific..I'm basing this one on a F1 car and looking to pick up a used liter bike engine and turbo charging it to get atleast 400HP out of it..should make for a fun ride. Spike is currently hunting for a set of rims for it..the braking system is atleast easy enough to design as was the electrical.

I'll more than likely need some stuff fabricated that I cannot do myself without either your help or Scott's help.. The last time I had it to frame and was having the body made when I sold it..this time I'm going to finish it first, then have the body made or make the body myself out of fiberglass..either way. I need to figure out my exact measurements and get everything setup the way I need it to be setup..then get started on the frame. As soon as I have the frame complete I'll work on drivetrain/suspension and that's where things'll start getting fun. I'll need to design this to hold up to the power that it's going to be putting out without completely shattering everything. The frame itself will handle the power and ask for more..so I'm not worried about that. First priority with this project is for me to get it into rolling chasis form...so frame, control arms, and the other suspension goodies are going to be made first..

Matt that sounds absolutely freaking awesome man! Im there if you guys need help with anything! Also if you need guys to help fab stuff Ive got some contacts that are still involved in the Indy car game and various other motorsports back from when I use to race! If you need something let me know! Have you thought about what kind of suspension or braking system you want to run yet? One of our family friends is a mechanic for Rahal-Letterman racing if you need Indy car style brakes or suspension componets I can get them from him. He is good he custom built the suspension setup on my dads Camaro and he has worked on Indy cars for over 30 years!
