Thanks for the schedule. I talked to a Ross Fosbender at the Gingerman HPDE about the Midwest council and joining it to get a better deal on entry fees for the time attacks. All this hinges on me getting my tow vehicle back in running shape and the price of ga$ this summer. I came to the realization that to go to amy event other than local was pushing luck if something happened. Most of the autocrossers that I race with trailer to distant events even though the cars are plated and street legal. Nothing sucks worse than being hundreds of miles from home with no working ride.

Other than that, I am stoked for the upcoming season. I am 3 weeks from finishing my real estate classes and the test is about 3 1/2 to 4 weeks away. My plans are to use 1/2 of whatever I can make to go towards my racing addictions. -Blu

hmmm only one at gingerman. When I went to Gingerman last year it was the most fun I have ever had racing a car ever. I am worried that in competition like you are in that the drivers might be more agressive and I could have a higher risk of damaging my vehicle. What is your opinion on this?

I don't think it is possible to mess up your car. all you can hit is a cone. your speed never goes above 60 to 70. Heck my wife even does it and she is afraid the rain is going to hurt her car.lol

When you're out there driving, at least in my case, there's no one else on the track with you. You're released in 'stages'. For example. You start your run, as you hit the 1/3 way point, the next car is let out, and so on. So you have about 30+ seconds of distance. You never see the other cars. If you catch one and it slows your lap, you're given a make up run. This prevents people from turning into wheel-to-wheel racers all of a sudden. There's usually between 2-4 cars on track at once, seperated by 30 seconds or so. As cars finish their laps, they do the same thing. You go past the finish, and have to go between a full, and a half a lap to get back to the pits, so they let a car out when you're about 1/3 of the way back to the pits. So he's just about to catch you as you pull off into the pits.

The only time there's really people together, is during the practice sessions. That's some fun right there. However, passing is only allowed on the front straight, if at all, and all passing MUST be initiated, and allowed, by the front car. So if I'm on your ass, I have to wait for you to motion to me that you're letting me pass. Any other passing will get you a warning, and repeat offenses will get you ejected. Even passing on the wrong side will get you a warning.

I didn't see anyone cause anyone else damage. All the damage I saw was from people coming into turns to hot, or lifting in the zig-zags.

Ross is a nice guy, he does the 'Novice Instruction' at the start of the day for us newbies. The membership fee pays for itself in two events, so that's pretty damn nice. It's a little far for ya, particuarly if anything happens to the car, but might be worth a trip or two. The Autobahn ones are the best to me, good hotels close, the have a locked, patrolled facility if something did happen and you had to leave your car there for the night or something. Also, they have the 'safest' of the tracks I've run so far. The even have an Audi as one of the emergency response cars.... hehe..

that sounds good, when I went there was passing, just on the straights as you said and I had to signal them.
