214 Street Races

For those of you that know about 214 down here it is officially closed as of last Friday. So in case you were thinkin about headin down there anytime soon, don't. The cops will be impounding any cars that are loitering and drivers will be fined. Some guy managed to get himself killed there last Friday. Attempting to ride a wheelie at 70+ and smashed into the back of a Caprice. They say he was killed instantly.

Sounds real similar to Red Rock here in MN. Freshly blacktopped road that we used to drag on in high school....They put cement barriers that make you weave there now so racing is impossible. It's for the best I'm sure.

Yeah they've used that tactic on 2 other really REALLY nice spots already. Their closings were the result of the 1st Fast and Furious. They were both pretty low key and easy to get in and out of. Shortly after that movie we had an influx of morons. Which resulted in speed bumps and concrete barriers. I know these spots are dangerous to begin with and hell most of the time when I go now racing is the last thing on my nind. For me and others I know/met, it was a place to just go and shoot the shit about cars, smoke ciggs, and cuss. Well maybe not like that but you get the idea. Guess I'll just have to settle for local meets and the track when I can get there.
