Post Any RL's in Southern Wisconsin?

Greetings,

While I don't own an Ion Redline, I am going to in short order. I am going to Saturn of Waukesha on Saturday (03-05-05) to test drive one. More likely than not, I will take one with me!

So who here is from Southern Wisconsin or Northern Illinois?

Cool. I have friends in Schaumburg.

What events are going on in Union Grove & Blackhawk Farms? Drags? Autocross? I know Great Lakes is over in Union Grove and Blackhawck is a road corse in South Beloit. I am more interested in a road course than straight line racing, but it would be cool do either.

Ahh road racing, my first interest as well. The car club that I'm joining to do it is the Midwest Council Car Club. Actually it's a division of it for the NW burbs here. My meeting is in Schaumburg actually. They have a few road races throughout the year, here's the website...

They have more road racing than the SCCA in terms of amatuer style stuff. The SCCA does have alot of AutoCross events though, can always do both too. I think it's 6-8 races throughout the spring/summer/fall. Should be alot of fun...

That deos sound like a good time. Now I just need to get my Redline this weekend and everything will be cool. Even if I can't participate, I will try and come down and check it out.

from milwaukee, i'd suggest saturn of greenfield, they had no problem performing warranty work on my car even though my airbox was completely removed, very helpfull, and even gave me advice on what to do with some things. we should get together this spring...

Greenfield eh? Well I'll be in the neighborhood so I will check it out. Thanks for the tip. How much did hacking the air box help? Any noticeable differnce? I was thinking of an exhast first, but the air box seems like a nice and cheap start!

Once I get my ride, I think it would be cool to meet other RL owners. My brother has an Ion-1 4 door, but other than he I don't know anyone with an Ion. Though there are plenty around town.

don't hack it, you'll want it in the future. when it's warmer, i'll help you remove it, or you can do like i'm going to and run a ram air setup, it'll help. also, make sure they've got the new PCM calibration before you accept delivery, you can find the exact bulliten number in one of the numerous threads about the PCM update.

i'll be in new berlin by the way, we can do the airbox deal in my garage this spring if you want, won't take too long

Cool, I think I will take you up on the offer. Thanks again for the numerous tips and advice. It's cool that there is such great group of people willing to go the extra mile and help out a total stranger.

I am going to start the paperwork this weekend, so I expect to have an Ion in my garage by next weekend at the latest. I can hardly wait! I haven't been this excited in ages!

We own Saturns, if we don't help each other, we'd go nuts trying to get answers out of moron's that think the only fast Saturn is one rolling downhill. It's also the reason, in my opinion, that these cars will be faster than the Cobalt's. We have drive and ingenuity, and most people are willing to wait for someone to show them a new part or mod, we go out and take saws to our airboxes, think of ram-air set ups, and debate fluid dynamics of forced induction vs. natural aspiration with respect to torque and horsepower ranges. I mean come on, we drive Saturns..
