Just got to ask, why do people like Halo so much? I don't dislike it, I just don't understand why people seem to like it better than Unreal/Quake/etc... All those seem TOO much the same to me for any one to be a big favorite like Halo seems to be.

Bah....stupid work filter! Will have to look when I get home.

Oh...and probably because Halo has a cool story and characters, and honestly combines some of the best aspects of all those other games. I love FPS, but I can't play endless hours of deathmatch like you get with Unreal/Quake. I like Halo or Half-Life much better.

Lets put it this way, Halo is SUCH a good game every other game uses Halo controls and tries to emulate Halo in anyway they can. Its got awsome single & multiplayer, vehicles, weapons for every type of player and maps for every type of game. Also Halo is probably the most satisfying game to kill people in. CS is fun but Halo is fun on a whole new level. Play it for a while and you'll get it.

I have played it, both Halo and Halo 2, and I do like them both. Actually, I started with the original Wolfenstein 3D, then Doom, Doom 2, Goldeneye, Quake, Unreal, Half-Life, Doom 3, and lots of fps games I don't remember. I like them all, I DON'T LOVE any of them. I don't see how the controls in Halo are copied in other games, but then again, Halo is the only XBOX fps I've played. Controls on the PC haven't changed much in a LONG time and the fact that I used a PS2 controller for the XBOX skews my views...

I don't get the Halo obsession myself, don't get me wrong. I can't think of another first person shooter, other than CounterStrike, that I would even consider... but I couldn't tell you why...

Every one of these games owe their existince to Id software, which originally came from Wolfenstein... The game engine was taken for doom, the guys all bought Ferraris, and now it's the same basic engine running all these games...

Marvel is about to release a HALO graphic novel! I read ALOT of comic books(basically every Marvel title, and a few image and dark horse titles too, my subscription list is like 40 titles long!), and love halo, so im looking forward to that. the new game looks fucking sweet too.
