Civic Type-R... Its the $#!?

http://www.rsportscars.com/eng/cars/civic_type-r.asp

They say the Type-R is not about speed but a great driving experience... they emphasize handling and good engineering... What BS!!!

They also say that NA power is better (i.e. smoother and faster) than force induction. Hmmmm when is 144 lbs-ft faster than 200 lbs-ft? Never!

Looks cool though.

They call turbos and super chargers silly.... VVT is silly for power... it’s to make a car more economical not to give it power!

You want more power leave the valves as wide open as possible ALL of the time not just when the gas pedal is pushed to the floor.

Why is that hard to figure out?

Some people think it's silly to put a SC into a Saturn. Go figure huh..

Smooth power delivery? The dyno runs I've seen posted here say otherwise.

NA is 'smoother' to a point, but not when you introduce VTEC, that's just stupid, that's ANYTHIN but smooth....

type R is a nice car though :P (not the best looking though )

Lol, wow. Okay...I could agree w/ most turbo setups. Like the SRT-4...lag, then BOOM. Esp. with the SAABs.

However, to say the RL isn't smooth? Well, it can get thrasy up top, but it's power delievery is very, very smooth. I drove my friends Teg-R a few times. Felt almost like turbo lag. Mild engine note until what, like 6,000 RPM? Then you can hear the change in engine tone and then the power comes, quasi-turboish.

The newer VTEC tech, I imagine, might be smoother. Example, at the last autoX event, listening to the RSX-Ss run, you couldn't hear the VTEC open up. Might be smooth, I don't know. But the Teg-R that ran? Sounds like two different engines; kind of cool, actually.

We all just have to admit, those who like the RL, are those that own them.

i-VTEC is a lot smoother, but still nowhere near as smooth as VANOS.
