anyone know much about these cars, never been a huge ford fan, but always loved them. looking into a '98 with ~80000miles on it for $8,000, seems like a decent deal since they're ~$40,000 new

not too worried about mods and all, i could do my own intake exhaust, and i'm sure they're headers for it (it is a performance car), just want to know if it would be a good buy or not. thanks,

Vita

there should be alot of mods for it, it is the same moter in the mustangs (4.6L). anyway KBB has the private party value at $6,600, and that is if it is in EXCELLENT condition try to get the guy to come down atleast a 1000 and then it would be a decent deal. good luck

Had one very nice cars. Very quick. Supercharge it first then do all the extras like exhaust and headers you will be very happy with it. And in good condtion thats a decent price.

My buddy back in Florida had a Mk7 I think, maybe an 8, anyway, it was a real nice car for a ford. Chevy guy here, so that really is a compliment. Pretty quick for a big car, real nice ride, real stylish inside, great back seat. Not a bad car all in all. Just a little heavy, he bought an '81 Vette at the same time.

Be aware that its a relatively rare car and that body and trim parts may be difficult to obtain if you ever need them. My dad has a Reatta convertible. Serious Reatta collectors think you need to buy a coupe for parts. Many parts are no longer available. I remember seeing and Allante in a body shop once. I asked the guy about it and he said they had been waiting over a month for a hood. The car was only 6 years old at the time.
Personally I think a Vette, Mustang, F-body, etc is a safer bet for a hod rod. They are so popular that the aftermarket will support them long after the factory bails on you.
