okay deal!?

i live in louisiana, and seems theres only a few IRLS around here...

ive called a bunch of saturn dealerships and only one has:
a used but in mint condish blue 04 IRL with 12k for 16.9
a new black/blue 06 IRL w/ comp. package for 24k with ttl.

i just dont want a large note every month.

but i cant find anything in the area...everyone with something for sale is like in MI or NY... lol, nothing around here...

Ouch... that $24k is a little steep, there's one on the lot here for $22k right now. Although that's not TTL... it's really your call. The '06 is the better car, because of the comp package... for sure.

i mean, is it worth it? this will be my second ion and i want something nice but nothing too crazy ya know? im all about the IRLs,
but is the the comp package worth it? worth buying a brand new IRL?

the only difference from the used one and a new one is:
wheels
sunroof
boost tach
LSD

right?

Yes, in a sense. An aftermarket LSD is nearly impossible to get installed so the price the include for the comp package is certainly worth it. The question is how much do you want to spend and is the comp package worth it to you? If you think that you need the LSD and you want the extra options then that's the way to go. Plus you get a brand new (read: never been beaten) car. 24K is what the 06 comp package MSRP's at with basically every possible option. However, there is no way that I'd pay that. Not very many people here have payed sticker price for their RL. The first one I test drove was a fully loaded red comp with aero wing and fully loaded but they didn't want to budge on the price. A week or so later I paid 17K for an 05 demo with 170 miles on it. No comp pack or advanced audio but I didn't figure that I'd need either so badly that I was willing to spend the extra 7K for it. It's all up to you man. Good luck.

thanks dude =)

anyone else wanna throw in there $0.02, please do so!

if the dealer will do both for the same price monthly, then i'd be down for the brand new one if its a low monthly note and just pay an extra year or something...

my ion2 sedan got flooded in a storm while driving on the road.
so state farm took 6 weeks to say that they wanted to total out the car.
should have a check in the mail for 12k tomorrow...
5k to the mother for other stuff
and
7k to a downpayment...
rest is gonna be a note...

it sucks these are so hard to find, but i just unno...

you asked so i'll comment. sp00ner's going to be upset

first off if you have no ability to travel, the negate what i'm about to be saying, because i'm assuming you're able to travel over 50 miles to get the car (be it bus, train, or plane)

your dealership is fucking retarded.

first off, get the 04's service history records, ALL of them. If they won't help you, i'm sure there's a few guys here that can help you, they've been more than glad to help me (not volunteering you guys, so volunteer yourself if you're interested). do not buy that 04 without it, mint condition or not.

second off, even if that 04 is totally loaded that price is ridiculous.... keep in mind that car is about to be 3 years old in a couple months, it's the first MY of the car, and it's a supercharged saturn and yo uhave no idea how much they beat on the car. If you're able to travel at ALL I guarantee you can find one for a good 3k cheaper than that. (assuming that number is NOT ttl, if it is, ignore me if you want :P)

third, I'm assuming the 06's aren't loaded or nearly so, if they are, then that's a good price. If they're loaded, i'd say get them. If not, remember a bunch of things. One there's a 1250 incentive out there, most likelya bout to become more. Remember that 07's will be coming VERY soon, in just a couple months. Remember that you're buying a year old car at this point, and remind your dealership that

my 2 cents

If it's absolutely between those two, go for the 06.

He is exactly on the money on this one. I got my 05 for 15K. I have every option but the competition package. The car only had 5000 miles on it. Do look at it though, just because they said they wanted 16 for it, doesnt meant they wont sell it for 12. The original sticker price they had on my car was 19000, wich was ridicoulous. I think you have time to barter with them. Every redline I looked at on Autotrader.com was there for a considerable while. As far as the new one goes here would be somewhat of a payment breakdown for you. I assume you would be around six percent interest for the new and probably 9 for the used. (obviously its going to vary)

With 6000 down (saved 1000 for mods...LOL)

04 Redline would be roughly 200 a month for 48 months
06 Redline would be roughly 270 a month for 72 Months

That is going to be your biggest desision maker. Do you want the extra 24 payments and the extra 70 dollar a month? If not, then go straight to the used. (Although if your credit is good and you can get lower, like 2.9 that I had on a new car) then your payment would drop to about 240 a month.

The LSD is the only thing different about the car. The boost guage and ladder tack can be added. I put mine in for 175 installed. I dont see it being worth two extra years of payments unless I could get the interest rates low enough. Either way buy a Redline for sure, and come hang out here. The people on this sight are very cool, knowledable and we all have the hottest cars on the road..............right guys....
