Dave's July cross country tour.

Hi everybody. I am going on vacation starting this friday June 30th. I am leaving from Denver and headed to Detroit, via I 80. I will be leaving around noon time and making my way to Caralville IA. Good half way point just past De Moines. I am spending the night there and then on Moline, Chicago, (around 11-12 am) Kalamazoo, Ann Arbor, and finnally Detoit (Utica).

Then on the 9th of July I will be headed back to Denver. But this time on I-70, Thru Indy, St. Louis, Topeka, and Into Denver.

So here is what I need. As there are many of us spread all over the country who have done trips like this before, I need suggestions on where to stop. Things to see. I plan on hitting every tourist trap on the way and point of interest, and taking a picture of the redline there. And if at all possible, meeting up with some of you guys as well.

Let's see, there is a huge mall in Coralville, IA that I had helped open a store at when the mall was first built. They used to have a skating rink inside the mall

In the quad cities (Moline/Davenport) you can visit Daisy Dukes which is literally right off of I80. It is full nude and BYO. If you only want topless and usually decent girls you can go to Chorus Line. (I have a WILD story from that place) Also in the Quad's is Checkers which is some decent greasy food and the have good shakes!

On the way to Cago you will pass The Lions Den adult store (about 25 mins outside of Moline). That will take care of any porn needs you may have, lol. Closer to Chicago in Oswego you will pass Sky Dive Chicago where myself and Mrs Photo skydive (as well as another strip club called "Silver Slipper". STAY CLEAR THOUGH). About 35 mins after that you will come to the city of Morris. I believe they still have the ice cream store with a 25 scoop sundae. I believe that if you eat it within an hour you get your money back. Also, there is a truck stop right off of I80 called "R Place". There, they have a 5lb burger that needs to be eaten within an hour also.

After that you will get to Joliet....eh, it's Joliet. You can visit Statesville prison. One of the people on the board may be working that day *wink*
I live in Romeoville which is next to Joliet (and not much better, lol).

After Joliet you have about an hour to the Indiana border. You know you will get there becuase there is a BIG ASS HOLE (aka quarry). You also know you are in Indiana becuase every billboard is either for a strip club or Krazy Kaplan's fireworks, or a casino. When you get to the Chesterton/Valpo exit you are Rice Eater's house. Someone from Michigan or Indiana take it from there.

Well now that I know where every adult superstore and topless bar is. The ice cream will probably kill me. Lactose intolerant. I would be stopping at ever bathroom from there to Detroit. The burger though sounds good.

During the right season you can catch a great minor league hockey game (GO MALLARDS!!!!) or an Arena Football game in Moline (Go SteamWheelers!!!)

Hmm, what else?!?!? You can usually do 80-85 no prob. There are some rolling hills though that the po po like to hide and instant on people between Moline and Oswego.

As I think of more I'll post is for ya. We need to get you from CO to Coralville and from Rice's house to Detroit.

Yeah any speed traps would be appreciated as well. But I am putting in a CB so that will help

Spooner, Not really planning on stopping unless There is a need to. I want to stay as close to 80 as possible as well. I've done chicago. I could go for some good pizza though.

Davy. Yeah mine is not so elaborate. I install mine so that I can take it out again and noone knows the difference. Plus I don't have the cool all in one mic. Just an old Cobra big ass silver box thing.
