New Vehicle

Not for me, but my gf. She just put a hold a '07 Honda Fit(purchasing when she gets out of work today). Not a performance car, but it'll do what she wants so shes happy. Much better than the Ford Fusion her mom wanted her to get. Just wanted to get some opinions on the car.

I'm sure most people can guess mine already! Not a Honda fan, and I actually like what I've seen from the Fusion, and I hate Fords too.

However, for just a get around car, I'm sure it will be great. Cheap, small, good mileage, shouldn't break.

Fusion is one of the nicest and safest small cars Ford has ever made, and I like SpOOner, don't like Ford, and still have to admit it's not bad. I haven't driven a Fit yet, but I'd take a Fusion over A Civic if comfort and safety were my key goals.

She goes to school 300 miles away, so being able to fold all the backseats flat, toss stuff in the back and drive down there and around town on 1 tank of gas is something that she was looking for. And the Fusions are nice... but their base models are just that, base and very cheap (not price wise), nothing in them. And for the same price, the fit sport is decked out, and she got the auto with paddle shifters on the steering wheel which should be cool.

the aveo utilizes high strength steel ALOT
seats 5 decently
great gas mileage, you can get 40 ish on the highway no problem
they even have a gas card slot built in! lol
and a passenger power side mirror and a manual driver one

they arent bad at all, if the hondas cheap go for it, if its over like 14,000 forget it and atleast look at the aveo they have a 5-60 powertrain free.

keith-

i love them!1

ya I gotta say if I was in the market for a cheap solid car i'd have to go with the yaris or fit, the domestic coutnerparts like soups said, are COMPLETELY base, they have NO ameninities, not even a/c (i don't believe) or power anything, and they're only like a thousand cheaper or something.
and yes i know everyone hates resale values but the resell of the fit and yaris would be 10x better 5 years down the road

Didn't know they had paddle shifters on the steering wheel. That's pretty cool for such a cheap car. Sounds like you just need some FI and she'll be all set!

A friend of ours has the aveo and its fairly similar to the fit but something about it deterred my gf, who knows how womens minds work, but yes, she picked the most expensive Fit and it was over $14000, try $16500.
