World Cup - Penalty Kicks

I'm no soccer fan, but ending a game in the later rounds of the World Cup on penalty kicks is just GAY...

Do like hockey - if tied at the end of regulation, play your 2 15-min halves...if STILL tied, then go into a "break" like between halves, and then come back out for another two halves...keep going until there's no tie left at the end...

PENALTY KICKS? That's cheap! 12 yards away!!! There's no skill in that - it's a guessing game...

Yeah - and like I said...not a fan of the game, but I HATE to see a team lose like that...that's just silly.

yea i agree with you, i was watching one last week where it was won by a really cheap call for a penalty kick

ever take a penalty kick in a high cost game? Its not as easy as it looks. Anyway the game could go on forever in overtime.

Soccer blows... i just can't get into it. Every score I see is like 1-1 and people are going crazy over the tie...

It won't go on FOREVER, eventually someone makes a mistake and that's it, but losing on a Right/Wrong GUESS by the goaley??? Come on...Where's the fun/excitement in that?

I'm with Spoon...the game needs more scoring!

I am by no means a soccer fan... infact i can't watch it.. i only watch it every 4 years when the world cup is on, and thats soley because it is played on the highest level then...

I though in hockey they played 3 periods... then then a sudden death, and then penaltie shots?

there is more then just the scoring to entertain the average soccer fan... a game like football has a usual score of 14-7... thats a total of 3 touch downs... with a TON of down time between plays... where soccer is full of movement.

I did use to have that same stance on the game as others, until i guess i learned to appreciate the game more

not during the playoffs...sudden death OT for as many periods as it takes...standard intermission between overtime periods.

A few billion people disagree with you. . .

A soccer athlete is in better shape cardiovascularly than any other professional sport I'm aware of--bball, hockey, football. . .

But they are sissies when it comes to fouls too.
