Well the whistle went with no signal so in order for it to be a goal they had to have a 100% clear image of the puck across the line, which they had. As for pushing the goalie into the net, well it was kinda 'iffy' as to the call they made. Personally I think the goalie was pushed into the net with the puck, but what I think doesn't matter one bit in the grand scheme of things.

A lot of games have been poorly officiated, with either too many calls or too many missed calls. I know they are still trying to get the "new obstruction rules" to work right, but at the end of this season it'll be 2 full season with the rules that "are not suppose to change in the playoff's" and they should have it down by now. It's getting a little ridiculous.

Some games it looks like the ref's are biased a bit, but most I see them making bad/missed calls for both sides and then there is always an 'iffy' goal and every says they are favouring the team they gave the goal too. Well if the other team had the same type of goal in the same game it'd likely be called the same way, but you almost never see 2 of the same 'iffy' goals in one game.

SO NHL update 2008!

Eastern Quarterfinals

Montreal>Boston (4-3)
Pittsburgh>Ottawa (4-0)
Philadelphia>Washington (4-3)
New York Rangers>New Jersey Devils (4-1)

Western Quarterfinals
Detroit>Nashville (4-2)
San Jose>Calgary (4-3)
Colorado>Minnesota (4-2)
Dallas>Anaheim (4-2)

Eastern Semifinals
Montreal vs. Philadelphia
New York Rangers Vs. Pittsburgh

Western Semifinals
Detroit vs. Colorado
Dalls vs. San Jose

What are your thoughts of this years Stanley Cup playoffs?

Mine, Toronto Maple Leafs aren't in contention yet again...I'll keep dreaming!

I find the officiating absolutely horrid, some of the stupidest penalty calls at the worst possible times. They'll let things go all game, then with a minute or two left, they'll call a pussy little trip/slash. Stupid.

Who are your cheering for?

I want montreal to beet philly, but I want Pittsburgh to take the East.

I'm now rooting for Dallas in the west.

This is an approved thread revival, I know the jag will approve.

sorry dude i totally missed this thread.. hockey hype is pretty dead out in wny since buffalo took a flop a year after winning the presidents trophy.. heres a bump though to get some talk going..
redwings put a nice whooping on dallas tonight, pittsburgh is most likely to do the same tomorrow against phili but they better not get too confident.. phili has been on a roll them selves..

yeah, I'm all in for Pittsburgh now...It sucks that hockey completely dies down where you are when your team is out. Even though Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal (basically split the fan base in thirds here in Ottawa) are all out, the playoff hype is still pretty big.

I'm hoping Dallas can put something together tomorrow night.

Game 1 was horrid but probably had a lot to do with coming off a 4OT game and Redwings having a week rest.

Game 2 was close, a lot of possible shots could have swung it the other way, so crossing my fingers that the Stars will win it at home.

And the old thread live on! Caps gave it a good run, more than anyone expected. They pushed it to the wire 'til the end, was very exciting!
