LS3? Shoot, building a 408 is so cheap these days, GM should make it a factory option.

The LS3 is a 6.2L, it has the same stroke as the 5.3L, 5.7L, and 6.0L - 3.622" I believe it's bore is 4.065" IIRC.

The 408 uses a 4" stroke. When building high cubic inch LSX engines, people tend to use either the 4" or 4.125" stroke cranks. A 408 uses a 4.030" bore.

No, you can't get a 408 from the factory, but, I wouldn't be surprised to see it in a truck not too far down the road. The LSX is making the big block obsolete.

well, they have been able to stretch the block out so much there is no need for a heavy big block.

The cubic inches are part of the story, how well they've been able to make the heads flow is the other. There aren't many big block heads that can keep up anymore.

Seeing the SSR was such a huge success, GM better hurry and get these to our shores

Though it's weird...aren't there like 20k+ SSRs out there? I see maybe one every six months, though.
