Monster Garage Panoz

I was coming back from lunch at the airport where I work, and I saw an interesting car...err...plane sitting on the tarmack. I decided to check it out, and at first glance, I thought it was a Mazda Miata, but after talking with the crew doing the Photo Shoot, I find out it's actually a Panoz Esperante ($80,000+ Miata). Well they gutted to make it lighter (Started out as the lightest production car in the U.S.) and built aluminum wings with a think a 50 or 60 HP 4 cylinder to drive the prop. I guess it actually flew down at Kitty Hawk…but you can watch the show on Discovery Channel.

ill bet it would be more like $200K the car alone is $100k. I saw the buildup of that car last week. it is a two part project and i think the second part is on this week. looks awsome though, but i guess i dont have to watch the show to know that it flew. since it is still around it means that is wasnt destroyed.

Thats true. But I do enjoy seeing how he destroys things. I mean, how often do you see a minigun unload on a car, or see a car go into a car crusher with a filled propane tank in the front seat?

I saw that last night. Pretty cool. He needs to put rudders on that thing and really fly it.

I stayed up to watch the second part last night and I was a little disappointed at his "flight" if it can even be called that.

But at least he flew further than the Wright Brothers did!!! I thought he would at least get higher than one or two feet off the ground. But then again it was just a car with wings so what kind of flight can you really expect?
