Cloverfield

It comes out this friday, I'm going to be in Lake Tahoe but gonna try to go see it. Anyone else interested in it? I'm curious as to what the "monster" is.
My personal opinion is its a Godzilla remake or spinoff of some sort. Anyone else?

I want to see it but it'll have to wait until Saturday night or Sunday. I like the perspective that they put it in with the video camera.

Not sure what the monster is. Looks like a mix between Godzilla and War of the Worlds. I don't think it's worth ticket price to go see. Usually when they reveal so little about the movie, it ends up being crap. They don't even show anything after the initial terror of the monster. Not good.

exactly.
I am scared to go see it since they haven't been showing shit in the previews. I just know that it's going to be a retarded-ass movie made to look cool in the previews.

but let me know if i'm right / wrong

^^^I second that motion.

I'm not going to spend $11.50 on a big budget, special fx driven movie,
that looks like it was filmed on JJ Abram's camera phone. ??
It seems in the preview, that the whole movie is in the point of view
of some civilians trying to get away.
It would just seem to be a lot more interesting if the movie was shot in the
points of view of the soldiers, pilots, scientist, etc. trying to fight
this thing.

My prediction: It will do really well on the opening week-end, but
once word gets out what a steaming pile of shit it is, the box office number's
will drop faster than Enron stock.
But then again I could always be wrong.
----End Rant----

hey who knows, maybe the monster in this movie is the black smoke whatever thing from LOST

one thing's for sure, if this movie's thought out at the same level as LOST, it's fucked.

I will be seeing it, so I'll let you guys know how it goes. I think the lady-friend wants to see it Friday, so I may see it after work.

I mean I THINK my confidence in JJ Abrams is good enough to think it's gonna be a good movie? Word on the street is that the monster was based off of a toy he saw in a shop in Japan when he was there with his son...well we'll see, I'll let you guys know how it is.

Now that I think of it I've got one of the worst positions here because I've got to spend well over $25 on tickets and food just to be the guinea pig. It better be good.
