I would have fallen off the face of the earth after I sold him the bike. Should have gotten a go-phone and never told him where you lived. LOL.

Of course I'm kidding.

The old saying...shit rolls down hill.

Do the same thing to the person you bought it from. Confront them saying that you went to sell it, someone ran the vin and this is what they found. You need to refund me partially as I know have to lower the price of my bike.

what if they say no, you think I could take them to court too? as far as i'm concerned, the original false document occurred between me and the guy I bought it from. i might have to do that.

i would nicely suggest that if this other person takes you to court that your lawyer (doesnt know you dont have one) suggested that we (you) will have no choice but to do the same....

"Id much rather make this guy go away for both of us, i'll be happy to have you validate what i say he is planning to do. my lawyer said offering them a small amount pass through from you would be easiest for you and I".

Thats what i would start with.

In quotation is what id say to him, that was me speaking as you to him. =)

Get him to feel like you guys are in this together, your working together to get this new guy off both of your butts. Dont let him feel like he has no liability (not sure in your state if he does or not). Present it like your trying to do him a favor. Heck, even say "you pitch in x amount and I'll pitch in x amount". If he doesnt contact the new person he has no idea you arent pitching in money

^I don't really think that is good advice. As is...meaning condition. He can't go after him for CONDITION of the parts. BUT, he could go after him based on the true market value difference. The price agreed upon was determined by the mileage. With the difference of mileage, it could have a marginal effect.

The title is a notarized document and pretty damn legal.

My suggestion...try finding what the value difference is between the bike having 25k miles and 125k miles. Could be a marginal difference. Then contact the previous owner regarding the situation asking them to fund the difference. Thing is, you probably paid too much for the bike that means too.

If need be, file in small claims court against the guy you bought it from BEFORE the new owner does. That way, if the court goes in favor of the new owner, you could possibly have the funds already from the previous owner.

I'm not sure about there, but its less than $10 to file stuff in small claims.

How long ago did you actually buy the bike? I'm pretty sure that's the determining factor of if you can go after the original seller.

thats pretty good advice for a situaiton where you are 100% responsible as you did not do due diligence and too bad for you! The buyer is the innocent in this case and you gave a false mileage even though you were unaware (so you say lol) legally the blind lady doesnt know between Hawlyns the good guy and Joe rip off the bad guy...so you are stuck, and Mr. Photo has the right idea...let us know how it turns out it has all the possibility of turning out badly for you...sorry for that
