I used to work on the A-10 (GAU-8) gun and I currently work on the F-16 (M61A1) gun. The picture on the left is the actual training gun at Davis-Monthan. I recognize the classroom.

It is indeed a flying gun. The gun was created before the A-10 and it was agreed that it would make an awesome Forward Air Control and Close Air Support weapon. The A-10 was to handle it in all aspects.

Maxwell Smart had a machine gun mounted under the hood of his 1st car in the "Get Smart" TV series, a red Sunbeam Alpine. A panel opened in the hood when activated and the gun rose up out of it. Looked to be very handy for those "slow mo" drivers who won't get out of the left lane of traffic.
