I have ten word problems I have to do for my homework in a Col Algebra class. I absoluty suck at word problems. Even though there is no time in my professional life I will need to solve these problems, its still part of my Degree Requirement.
Anyone want to help a brother out?
Problems are like this.
There were 320 tickets sold for a basketball game. The activity cardholders tickets cost 1.75 and the non-cardholders tickets cost $2.00. The total amount of money collected was 623.50. How many of each ticket were sold?

theres multiple answers for the question.... if u do the math if u only sold 18 cardholder tickets that costs 31.5, so u do 623.50-31.5=592/2= 296 non-cardholder tickets sold... pretty much if u can get the number to an even ending with the cardholder tickets then u can just divide 2 evenly into whatever the balance is.... its been awhile for algebra for me but i think im correct

Visual: 10% tint all around, custom fiberglassed and painted 3 gauge pillar, flat black rl rims, painted tailights and headlights, CF emblems
Coming soon: front mount, meth kit, wideband, lowering springs, hood risers, rearview mirror with temp and direction
The answer if figured out like this
x+y=320
1.75+2.00y=623.50
175+200y=62350
175(320-y)+200y=62300
So 254 Non ticket holders
and 66 ticket holders
ALGEBRA SUCKS, only nine more to go.
There were 321 tickets purchased for a major league baseball game. The lower reserved tickets cost 9.50 and the upper reserved tickets cost $8.00. The total amount of money spent was 2857.50. How many of each kind of ticket were purchased?
hmmm, guess I am better at this than I think. The answer for that one is
x+y=321
9.50x+8.00y=2857.50
950x+800y=285750
950(321-y)+800y=285750
y=128
321-128=x
x=193
193 Lower tickets
128 Upper tickets
Eh, when the fuck will people ever actually use this shit. Algebra is crap.
