Exclamation started tuning for better gas millage. 1 big problem though. I NEED YOUR ADVICE!

i talked over the phone to ralliartist and he walked me through all the steps to have my car run off PE and started to tune for gas millage.

only problem is my wideband i don't think is reading right because i tried to get it so if i am less than 30% throttle and below 4k rpm's i want 16.0 afr. however while i am driving it's still flying around from 14.2-15.6. sometimes when i come to a full stop my wideband reads 17.5? or like maxes out and zero's out then comes back and his a high 16-17.8? if i tap on the gas it goes back to 14 or so but then just goes back to 17+? i have a feeling ether my wideband isn't getting the right power or maybe the sensor is messed up??? what do you guys think could be wrong?

also when i go wide open throttle i am tryin to get 12.2 afr or command that and sometimes the wideband reads 10's???? like low 10's??? what do you think could be up? same shit happened when i was on tune time's tune also so i really don't think it was the tuning that made this happen. please do not blame ralliartist or anyone else because since day one my wideband has always given out weird readings. this used to happen while being stopped see a high 16 on my old tune. any help or advice???

(est. 40mpg in town while driving around at 35-40mph. stop and go but mostly 35-40mph)

just because you command an afr doesn't mean that's what it will be

Exhaust leak?

I hope it's not actually those numbers. That would be bad.

Any chance you can hook up a scanner, see what your stock O2s are reading?

did you take out both 02 or just your rear 02? If you have removed your front 02 that is one of your problems.

tune your maf and you will get the commanded afr...also wtf do you mean run off of PE? When sitting at idle the WB is going to bounce around and not just sit at a steady afr. You also need to make sure HPT is reading the exact same thing as your WB. Cause if not than that can be one reason why your not getting the afr you want.

Oh christ....

Ok, first - you need to have a 100% sealed exhaust system, or your wideband readings will be all over.

Second, verify good strong non-intermittent ground and power to the WB controller.

Third, tune your VE table and MAF BEFORE you start on this road.

Without following suite and talking to you like your stupid. Rather, read my how to maf guide. All the answers are in there. Also for future reference, fix your exhaust leaks.

thanks. since i got the cat put in the place that welded it had 3 little little holes that leaked. clearly they didn't do that good of a job. i got muffler weld junk shit and i put it all around there hopefully that will hold it if not it will just fall out and i'll have to get it welded again. i think the WB readings are just messed up and not exactly right cause it makes no sense to just sit at 17.5 and stay there for a couple seconds. i am just thinking ether the sensor is messed up or the leaks is what causing it to give weird readings. idk?
