Paypal Scam???

I just got an email from PayPal, saying that my account had been 'locked' for suspected unauthorized access. Gave me an incident number, and a link to click to activate my account. Asked me for all my personal information. Which was fine, until it got to all my bank account and credit info. SS#, etc, etc. At this point I started getting a little leary. Then, looking at the location bar at the top of my browser, it has an IP address listed instead of paypal's domain. I immediately closed that logon, and went into paypal's site. Logged on, copied the incident number from the email and put it into paypal, nothing comes up. Looked for the account access 'violation', and there was nothing. Account isn't locked or anything. I feel like someone was trying to rip me off on this one...

if it shows an IP, it's most definitely not paypal.

we get a ton of similar emails posing as citibank and paypal at my lawfirm every day. you can actually send it to paypal and report it, look on the site.

they should address you by your full name in the e-mails, they have a whole section on this, and they won't ask you for info you've already provided, they'll tell you to log into paypal and resolve the the resolution center.

Not too far off. I'm sick today, and not paying alot of attention. I entered in everything till I got to the bank and credit info. Then every red flag went off in my head. Noticed there was to secure connection, the domain had resoved to some odd IP address, and I closed everything right away. Figured if nothing else, it would show up when I go into my account normally. So I did that... nothing odd. Then while I was in my account, $30 popped into it. Clicked on the link to transfer it, nothing told me it was locked.

I email them, and sent them a copy of the email I got. I do need to change my password right away though. I entered that thinking it was the log in for paypal. Oddly enough, that part worked. Seem like they were phishing for all my palpal info and most likely have that right now... be right back...
