Nitrous

Just a question....
Why do you all think it is that people get so butt hurt when the topic of sprayin comes up? I don't spray but I do see it as being the same as any other power adder when done right. Yet whenever I talk cars with people and bring it up most tell me it's cheating or give the owner no respect. I'm sure it's cause most of them have been pulled by someone sprayin. But I still fail to understand why people get so heated and rant about how it's cheating to use it. I mean I don't run cars with S/C's lose and then turn around and say you cheated let's see how you run N/A. Sounds retarded to me when I think about it. But what do you all think about it as a mod? And have any of you found that others get butt hurt when the topic is touched on?

I personally wouldn't use nitrous just because of the use-it-up factor but honestly, it's not cheating by any means, I agree with you completely. I can't really say why everybody gets so worked up about it . . . just let it ride.

What do you mean "use-it-up factor"? I also agree, if you got it flaunt it. Use what resources are available, exploit all possibilities for more power.

That's what I thought he was saying. I figure if I had a system I would be overkill for a little while. Hopefully the novelty would wear off and then I would only use it when I went to the track. I could see it as a costly additive.

Ask most big time racers, and they'll tell you that N20 is another form of forced induction. Which is exactly how I think of it. I know old school car guys that think ANY blower, turbo, or juice, is cheating. They say all engine or it's cheating.

People are pissed by the though of 'air' being sprayed into you intake that gives you 50-500hp. Somehow, they think it's not 'part of the engine'. It's pretty stupid really.

Run what ya brung....

You don't see IHRA guys complaining about the N20 injected '57 Corvette that just smoked their blown big block. You have an SRT right? People do it to you guys anyway. Your car has crap for an engine, it needs a turbo to get 230hp, and my S2000 dosen't!

I see it as being the same as any other mod that you add to your car to go fast. I guess I'm just amazed at how people get so worked up when it's brought up. It actually frsutrates me to listen to them complain of it as cheating and gay. But yeah I do get to hear a boat load of shit about the "you need a turbo" to make power thing. I just kinda laff when I hear that cause it's a relief from people trying the age old it's still Neon thing. Yes it's always a Neon until you lose then it somehow becomes an SRT-4.lol.

haha well put Drk

I think a lot of it is that most people don't fully understand how it works and why it does what it does for your engine. People fear what they don't understand, and often get frustrated with it, hence the "bad name" that nitrous often gets.

Add to that how cheap it is in comparison to other forms of power, and how it seems that most ignorant tuners will run nitrous and cause catastrophic damage because of lack of knowledge, and there you have it.

I used to not be too thrilled with the whole concept, but I did my research and testing. Now I'm hooked and more than happy with the results, though the people I've used it on have other choice words for me LOL

Ditto. Besides people can never lose a fair race They always have an excuse. "well, I didn't launch clean." "I didn't adjust my boost control" "You have AWD" etc.

I think it's more main stream than most power adders, it's just the bad rap it gets. I mean you hear about people getting into wrecks all the time, but the ones that make the headlines are always the ones who were street racing and spraying. Most probally because the wrecks are so much more impressive, I mean there is a world of difference between hitting a tree going balls to the wall and then hitting that same tree going balls to the wall and spraying.....It's always been about image, and unfortunatly, like the trailer parks and tornados, it's always the idiot you see on TV that is getting all the attention, not the neighbor down the street who was the smarter one.
