TV Problems

One of my tv's periodically goes off by itself, won't come on when you push the power button on the remote or the tv, then will come back on by itself later. Also, when on, the tv has thin bright horizontal lines at the top of the tv. Anybody know what this means? Is the tv fixin to go out?

yep. sounds like it is connections in the board (maybe dust that is connecting points with other connections) and or its a bac power supply. the lines ....... are they there all the time...... if so then it could be either A) outta adjustment or B) the board is messed up.

i dont have alot of experince in the tv part but that is just my assumption. and we all know where assuming can lead to

The lines are there all the time. When you first turn it on, there are a lot of lines then they slowly go away and leave only a few at the top.

yep tv is gonna shit out on you in not to far away time. best bet is to dump it and get a new one. well that is if you dont wanna fix it or have a repair man fix it. its prob gonna be cheaper to buy a new one, unless its like a 40+ incher.

Yeah, it's time is probably limited. It's a 27". Definately wouldn't repair it, just buy a new one.

Sounds like either the power supply, or the picture tube, or both, are having issues. Or any other manner of odd electrical gremlins that can occur. Probably need a new one, how old is it?

Yea, you can get the same quality TV now, for about $199, maybe $250? I just got a 27" flat screen, about 6-8 months ago, for like $230.
