Solstice Dyno

here it is. i belive it's the first posted dyno, and with such low miles, she's not even broken in yet. the ecotecs seem to be tight from the factory. can't wait to see the turbo version!

i think they'll put out more, plus it seems from other posts that they get pig rich up top. they've already got headers/intakes/exhausts, etc., available, so they'll likely have a A/F tuner ready to go soon as well. i/h/e with a good tune should give some good power to them.

personally i think the high power versions are going to rock, but i'm veering away until a couple years in.

2008 or later i'll be driving in my super sexy saturn sky RL, and i won't buy until i have the money saved up to transform it into a beast before i even drive it on a regular basis.

either way, i'm thinking this dyno was on the low side, and could very possibly be falling short of the actual redline as well (i've seen it plenty, and it makes a difference).

sexy cars though, very sexy!

remember its a light car. With that little power itll be something to race but always win. Once the turbo comes out all bets are off.

it's only about as light as we are, not much lighter at all. it's a LOT heavier than the miata too, but i have a feeling the chassis is MUCH better as well

can't wait to see what other cars come of the kappa!

Vita, just curious why you would think that the sky will put down better numbers. I think its going to come down to another Cobalt SS vs Redline, which is faster... It's going to be the same car basically, correct?

i don't think the SKY will put down better numbers, they'll be the same car like you say. the high powered version will be killer though.

i do think that this is a low dyno though, as the ecotec opens up after a good break-in.

i think a lot of them want to sell their cars to cut a profit, but i didn't look. they're sold out through next years models as far as i know, and dealers are gouging. one even lost it's allocation due to a boycott. i don't think GM wants the same to happen as did with the GTO...

That's where I think GM made a poor choice with the Solstice. They let it get way too heave for the type of car that it is. If they really wanted to compete with the Miatas to have much better performance (handling+power), they should have made it to have the same, if not less weight as a Miata. 2800+lbs for a 2 seat roadster is waaaay to heavy.
