Well no gears now but killer deal on a daily driver!!

I was planning with my tax return to get my gears installed so i would have a good time at the track this year. Well we are getting our money back, 1200 a piece, me and my gf..and i was talking to my boss at work. Right now i have a 92 saturn sl1 5 speed with 207,000 on it. It runs good and doesnt look that bad on the outside but since it was a company car before i got it its kinda rough on the inside. Power locks dont work and the windows do barely but still it does good in the snow and saves my mustang from miles. I have had it a little over a year..but i dunno how long it will keep going..plus its dirty and it leaks when it rains. I cleaned it when i first got it but it was so dirty i just gave up..but it got me front point a to point b and is was kinda good not worrying. Anyways..my boss has a 99 sl2 saturn with 108 k on it and a 5 speed, power everything keyless entry, all highway miles like mine... and he was telling me how he ran it along a guard rail last thursday. So its got a few problems but i was joking and i wsa like u should sell it to me cheap. he was like how cheap? i was like i dunno 1k?? He said..ok!!!! And he is serious. So i went out to look at it closer..great inside just needs some vaccuming..much better then mine. The only thing that is wrong...when he ran it into the guardrail it made the steering all crazy. I looked under there and i couldnt see anything wrong with it..no bad tie rod or anything..its just got a bent rim and needs aligned again i am pretty sure. Its one of those black steel rims with a wheel cover so its like 35 bucks at the junkyard Its very driavable like it is after thats fixed but unlike my 92 now i wanna keep this one nice..so...the fender in the front and back are cracked..more so in the front..and its scuffed down the sides of the doors. Those might come out but ill just get some new fenders. The good thing is its all plastic so it just petty much pops back on when u get new ones. I just did one on my 92 cuz i hit a deer...got one on ebay for 80 bucks same color. So i will get this all done and ill have a 99 car..a nice daily driver and family car for my daughter to ride in. Be much better for her...so retail is like 3500 minus i would say 1000 for the body panels if it was done professionally..thats still a hell of a deal. 108k sounds alot but if it goes like my 92 i still got over 100k to go. Also its the DOHC model so its got 125 horses compared to my 85 now..so it will be a little bit easier and less scary to merge!!! So no gears for now but i can always get them, cant get a good deal like this always. So i gotta improve sumwhat this season so ill get some underdrives and pull my headlight and see if i can get a tenth or 2..i would think so. Sorry for the long post..just happy i got a deal and i hope its just the rim..i am gonna put one of mine on this weekend and drive it so i will see if thats it. So hopefully this will tide me over til my stang is paid off and redline here i come!

Good deal.

I need to get a "beater" car for my wife and I. Once I get the redline HP where I want it, I'll probably be getting about 15 or 16 mpg and my wife drives a leased Mercedes.

My saturn now is supposed to get 25/35 mpg..but its morelike 28 on the highway since the high mileage. the 99 is supposed to get the same so it should. I am happy i can get rid of my leaky dirty car!! Gotta fiz up the 99 a little cosmetically but then it will look good. Dark blue so sorta matches my stang! lol

Keep the body all messed up, turbo it, and make it a sleeper.
