i wanna know what yall would do in a situation like this.



ok yall know that im renting a house with another couple. this other couple and the wife and i have been friends for about 2 years now and have been really close. we will call the other couple man= #1 and woman = #2 just for referance.

so my wife and i left around noon on sat to go to the 49's football game and came back around 11pm or so on sunday, "went to bed" woke up around 9am on monday, started cleaning and got irriated at #2 and decided that we would leave and go visit my partents. so we left around 2pm on moday to visit my parents and returned home around 12:30am-1am, went to bed and both of us went to work in the morning, and didnt return home until like 4:30/5pm.

ok now that i got the time frams all work out, do you all understand on that part? if not read the rest and then read back up if you need to refer back to the times.

now the main part of this story.

so on sat morning i got on the computer (if yall dont know EVERYTHING in that computer is brand new, ill list parts if nessicary but its like a total of around 800-1000 bucks, i know i got ripped off on something but im impatient sometimes ) to mess around with it for a min to check my mail and then i shut her off and put everything away (power cords and what not, so i could tell if people were gonna fuck with her while i was gone). so everything was working fine on her when i shut her off. left for SF and when we got back i didnt even have time to turn her on until last night ~ around 5:30PM. so i sit down and turn her on and shes working fine for ~ 15 mins and then BAM she speeds up and then slows down (fans) and then all of a sudden a weid sound and BOOP the screen (moniter) starts to act all funny and pixle heaven with boxes and all sorts of weird stuff. i was like what the fuck happened? so i shut her off and let her sit for a min thinking that somehting weird happened and then tried turning her back on........... NOTHING. ........... so i get upset and get up and unplug everything and put her on her side on the couch and open up the side to what do i find .......................

ohhhhhhhh man did i start throwing shit alll over that room. starting yelling and swearing and hitting the wall. ohhhhhhhhhhh thats one of three things that you DO NOT FUCK WITH. 1) my wife 2) my car 3) my computer. you fuck with those and i will get very very pissed. so i look into everything with a flashlight and to what do i see a fucking puddle of water sitting at the base and alot of water spots all over my graphics card and mother board. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i was about to kill someone.

so i talk to #2 and she says that NO ONE was around the computer. I said that was bullshit b/c 1) there was nothing on top of that computer when i left and 2) it was working before i left and 3) theres fucking water inside the god damn fucking case she said that she was not paying for anything b/c she says that i am lying. why the fuck would i lie about something like that.

so then #1 called me later that night b/c #2 called him about all this and he tells me that outta the 4 other people (6 total in that house while the wife and i was gone durring a new years patry that #2 threw) that NO ONE was near that computer and that no one drank water. BULL SHIT. then he goes off and tells me that nothing would have happened to it if the case wasnt sitting on the floor. where the fucking hell am i supposed to put it, we dont have a god damn desk in the house let alone the space for one, and to make this a little more understanding of how the room is layed out heres a pic (below).

i told him that it was working before i left and it was soaked in water and not working when i got back........... i told him that i expect someone to pay for whatever new part are needed b/c someone that they had over spilt water into it and didnt even bother haveing the balls to come out and say that they acidently spilt inside the computer. i said that it was his resonsibility b/c it was his company that he invited over and that he is responisbile for EVERYTHING in that house HIS OR NOT. and that since my computer was damaged in his party that he is reliable to either A) find out who did it and get them to pay for a new part(s) or B) he himself pay for the new part(s)


am i wrong in this?

i mean if i was in his position :
i would have said that i am sorry that that happened and that i would find out who did it or i would find a way to fix this problem b/c that it was my party and that since he was gone that it was my responisbility for everything in that house and that i would pay for it to get fixed.

i have a feeling that our friendship is now over b/c of both of their lack or responsibility and respect for another persons property and i cannot stand somebody, especially after 2 years of showing it to us before, that would do something like that, its just so god damn immature.


what would yall do in a situation like that? i need some outsider advice........ if you were in his and my position...... or even if you were at the party?

the thing is we do not want anything to do with this house we were only moving in there for ~ 1year time to help them out with the bills b/c they told us that they needed help, and then #1 told us last night that they would have had no problem makeing the payments so i dunno what the hell to believe any more. i had a bad feeling the very first night that my wife and i spent there

ripped off or not, you paid a lot of money for it, and their neglegence resulted in your stuff getting ruined. getting aggressive about it won't help things get paid for, so i'd hold off until you've got cash in hand, then tell them how you really feel. otherwise, kick 'em out, cause equal damage to something of theirs, and feel good about it. though if you share lease, you're f'd there, and my advice isn't usually the best way to go about things...

I would be incredibly pissed off, especially since its a computer. I built my own and if someone dumped water on it while I was gone cause they wanted to have a party i'd make them pay for it to... but rest assured, its not the end of a friendship... a very good friend and myself got it a pissing match over about $500 worth of gym stuff and after a little time we don't even think about it anymore and we're just as good of friends, but living with someone that is the source of such loss with probably amplify that anomisity... so in other words, your friendship is screwed, whether he pays up or not. Cause if he pays, he'll feel like he got jipped out money, and if he doesn't you'll be pissed. So best of luck with that and sorry for the loss of the computer... but either way, RAISE SOME HELL!!!!

hahahaha that what the wifes mom said was to distroy some of their stuff and really piss off #2 so that she wouldnt wanna stay very much at the house so we would get the house to ourselves alot but the wife and i are not like that and its hard for us to do something to people that we were sooooo close to at one point in time

i estimated ~ 300-700 bucks worth of damage....... could be as little as either a motherboard or video card

or as much as a new video card and a new mother board.


i think the cpu could be ok but if the board got a big shock that cpu could barely still be hanging on. but im 99.9999999999999999999999% that the graphics card is now fried since the monitor doesnt even show a green light anymore and i believe the fan on the graphics card doesnt even turn on no more
