stock intake

i think doing a welfare intake is a bad idea and i dont want to rip everything out if i wantto put a cold air intake. Im looking in to just geting a K&N drop in filiter any body else do this? i herd our intakes are almost as good as the intakes they have out already

yeah drop in filter is about the same as buying the cold air intake from K&N or AEM. It's mainly for the shine.

Bingo...The inlet for the stock intake is damn near in the same location as the K&N CAI. The difference in the two is that with the K&N echo the whine is a lot loader because it is metal. So if whine is what you are after, then the K&N is way to go. If you want a bit more airflow then just drop in a high flow filter in the stock airbox...

dynoing a ricer is like beating off. it seems fun at the time, but theres really no point.

I dropped in a new filter and 'disassembled' my intake piping. I didn't cut any holes or crap. I just took out the piping from the bottom of the airbox, up through the fender. It sounds incredible!

I'm curious as to what problems you are worried about? I mean, even with the piping removed, I'd have to drive through water that is up to the grill opennings on the front in order to be sucking it in the intake. And I honestly don't think splashing through a puddle here or there is gonna do it either.

Well the K&N also curl's up into ur wheel well so it's kinda hard to get water up there and plus u have the splash protection cover on the filter. And yes the whine is louder with the K&N because of the metal and also because the sound echos off of the close surroundings making it louder. But doing what superman said will give u that whine as well.

It's actually in the exact same location. However, the stock intake seems to taper at the end, where the K&N is a constant diameter... I might be wrong though, I haven't looked at the stock intake in a while...
