cam sensor -- WOP

I had the TSB done on the cam sensor a long time ago. The first time I got the car back it wouldn't hardly start and took the dealer 3 days to get it correct. Complaining there were no instructions with the tsb.

Can the cam sensor be off a little and the car seem to run ok and not throw codes??
My exhaust pipe is black. Could this be from too much fuel/not enough fuel

The cam sensor is driven by a hex drive so if it's out it must be by at least 60 degrees. It's such a bitch to check on the Redline because all of the crap in the way (easier on the Balt) and there's no easy way via scan tool or other reading to confirm it's timed correctly. I began creating a way to test it without taking everything all apart a while back, but I'm not quite ready to release that info until I can check it on a couple more cars.

The original campaign for the cam sensor seal #05522 dated 05/06/2005 outlines the correct procedure for R&R and timing the sensor.
Doesnt mention anything about the blood though... not for the squeamish
I'll maybe post a copy in the TSB section later tonight
