A shift light like the one in the old S series? Man, did I hate that thing!

I'm so glad my Red Line doesn't have one.

I did notice that the shift light is in the cluster, but it must be unhooked. Thank god, I hated that thing too. Made me feel like I was doing something wrong when it was on. According to the manual, it was supposed to be the best spot to shift for gas mileage. I wouldn't mind something like that, as long as I can turn it off when I don't care! It would be kinda neat to turn it on for the weekdays, try to get the best mileage possible back and forth to work, and then shut it off on the weekends.

Another feature I'm so glad we don't have on our Red Lines.

Just be glad it works. A friend of mine in college had a Jeep with a busted shift light. You could be tooling around in 5th gear and it would tell you to upshift...

I think he means a shift light used in a racing application. One that can be dialed in to light when you want it to.

I dont have one, but some have been talking about them.

Sorry about that, I suppose no one answered your question in any meaningful way yet... I have been partial to the Autometer brand of gauges in general. I don't really know the differences between different gauge brands, I just know that Autometer has some good history. I prefer a gauge/shiftlight that is accurate above all else. I would just avoid the 'Faze' crap, and the other 'ricer' oriented 'looks 1st, function 2nd', type of gauges. Don't be afraid to pay some $$$ for a good one. Shiftlights aren't too expensive to begin with, MSD makes a few good ones too. Not sure if those are meant to work only with their ignition controls though.

If there is one on our guages now, could that be programmed? Or am I totally confused?
